President Bush Takes Responsibility

Today at a joint White House news conference with the President of Iraq, President Bush stated. "To the extent the federal goverment didn't fully do its job right I take responsibility." President Bush went on to say, " Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of goverment." The President appointed a man as the head of FEMA who was not qualified to hold such a post, I guess he is feeling the heat!! Now I hope the governor of LA. and the mayor of N.O. will do the same.

I knew the President would take responsibility all along. You've been asleep for the past 5 years if you didn't know that.

The mayor, in my opinion, will not own up to his deadly failures. The governor will, but will make excuses at the same time.

I give the President credit for stepping up to the plate on this. For now, we can put this on the back burner and concentrate on picking up the pieces.

Johnp., my initial reaction was no, but hey, this is America: anyone can sue anyone for anything.

They can try...but they most likely won't get very far. For the most part, the government is above the law.

I'm somewhat surprised that George W. Bush would take responsibility for the problems the federal government encountered during this crisis, but I am also very happy that he did. This is one thing that Bush has done that makes me proud that he is my president.

FEMA has been entirely reshaped under the Bush Administration. It's no longer designed to meet the needs of a natural disaster but, rather, to advance the political agenda of the current regime. This is clear by the way that FEMA employees did everything in their power to undermine relief operations for the people stranded by Hurricane Katrina. Their orders simply corresponded with Washington's intention to put the city under federal control and to forcefully-evacuate the victims to locations around the Southwest.

Ford recognizes that what transpired in New Orleans is just the latest manifestation of ethnic cleansing papered-over by the diversionary braying of the media. There was no "bureaucratic bungling" or "failure of leadership" in New Orleans. It was a perfectly choreographed strategy to purge the city of poor blacks and to pave the way for lavish reconstruction projects for the wealthy constituents of the Bush administration.

It isn't his policy, but that of people wielding more power than him. His duty to them is to further advance the dissolution of these United States and to train us to except being incorporated into the new order. dance ...yes bush procrastinated because the buck
really does stop with him and he created the
FEMA situation and its head "You're doing a heck of a job Brownie!" Michael Brown.

What is really tragic the culture he created in

down because of stubbourness and living his

President Bush, did what few leaders do. Take responsibility. In fairness he has taken too much of the blame. The primary people who were largely responsible for most of the incompentence, Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagen still have not lived up to their responsibility.

President Bush, however, gave an example of how true leaders should take responsbility and I respect him for this. Thank you Mr. President.

There was and still is plenty of blame to go around at all levels of government on both sides of the aisle...yet unfortunately, only 2 folks have owned up to their failures so far. What happened to those school busses in the parking lot?

Bush taking responsibility isn't surprising. What would really be surprising is if Blanco or Nagin took any responsibility. Even more stunning would be if Dems showed the graciousness to respect Bush for his statement.
