Please do not give up on the Democratic Party. In order to overturn the scourge known as Roe v. Wade we must endorse and support Pro Life Democrats. President Jimmy Carter has recently come out and said, "that the Party needs to accept Pro Life Democrats back into the Party" and to also "remove language supporting tax payer funded abortions."
Please remember it was the Democratic Party that gave us Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, child labor laws, a minimum wage, and a decent work day...
Also, please remember that it was Nixon that pushed Roe v. Wade by stacking the Supreme Court with Pro Choice judges (in which affirms that on his Presidential tapes). It was Ford and Reagan that upheld it by appointing more Pro Choice judges. In fact, when Reagan was Gov of California his was one of the first states to legalize abortion...

Thanks for posting.

You know, I wish you well. But the Democratic Party has been hijacked over the years by socialists (they call themselves the Progressive Caucus). I am glad to know there are some pro-life Democrats. And I agree that at one time, the Democratic Party did some wonderful things. But the Democratic Party of today is not your father's or grandfather's Democratic Party. For pro-life Democrats, please consider joining the Republican Party tent, because the majority of those in Republican Party are still pro-life.

Those actions IMHO are unconstitutional - at the Federal level! (see 10th amendment)
What do you mean by a "decent work day" ?

And minimum wage is one of my pet peeves -Liberals say that we must raise the min wage because people can not live on it. That could be interpreted to mean that an employer is NOT allowed to pay someone more than the minimum wage (think about it)
Actually, if a person cannot make it - than he should consider getting another job.

Why should an employer pay a person - say $8 an hour when a job is only worth - say $5 an hour.

Raising the minimum can have bad results on the very people the Dems are actually trying to help - (or attempting to get there votes!)

First, Pro-choice is the incorrect term if you are referring to those who support abortion!

Now, when did Nixon say he supported abortion?

I am all for doing away with abortions, and while there may be a few who call themselves democrats and are not liberal there is no way I would for a second consider supporting them. In fact I don't support the republican party who are suppose to be conservative. The only thing we can be sure about in either party when they speak is they are lying. It is time for another party as both have went by the wayside.
You may be an independent Dem what ever that is, but I am just independent and have to hold my nose to even vote. I would make one point Jimmy Carter's adminstration was a complete failure. Because of him we are now enemies with Iran who before him we were not.

There is a contigent of people in the DNC who morally oppose abortion but don't believe it is the government's place to regulate what happens in our bodies.

It's a short end argument, but an argument nonetheless.

Not a valid argument and appears to be an excuse to ride the fence. Holding that regulating what happens to our bodies is more important than murdering unborn children is asinine.

If you raise the minimum wage to say $20/hr, do you think that people will be better off and can buy more for their families? NO!!!

Simple. The law of supply and demand. When people have more spendable income prices go up. When employers pay out more wages the costs are passed to the consumer by raising prices of their goods and services.

If minimum wage went up to $20/hr then prices would triple and the poverty level would triple and then $20 would not be enough.

Folks, raising the minimum wage will never stop. The cost of living will keep pace and keep people poor.

Who it hurts the most are skilled workers that actually make $20/hr now. Every time minimum wage goes up their pay stays the same but the cost of living goes up.

Minimum wage is a sham used by Democrats to get the votes of poor people. But it still keeps them poor.

I forgot to mention that every time minimum wage is rasied, the value of the dollar shrinks on the world market, and forces us to borrow even more money to cover the interest on our past borrowing when the dollar was worth more.

We end up losing in international trade, and increasing the money we have to pay on our debts because our dollar is worth less.

Minimum wage is bad for everyone, rich and poor alike, and most importantly our nation as a whole.

I believe abortion is a minor issue even to many Christians. Maybe not the vocal ones who take time to post on a Baptist forum, but over all there are no doubt many Christians who don't make this a top issue.
