I normally would agree and like what he is saying, but the Venezuela model is partially at work in the US. Venezuela where you had many poor ignorant people vote for themselves socialist government, spending and stealing from future prosperity. Which destroyed what had been working well into massive government central planning and welfare programs and destruction of one of the most prosperous countries in the region. At first their progressive policies helped poor people lives but what happened was the money ran out. then the progressives dragged down everyone to the bottom, a lowest common denominator effect. People became more equal at a very low level of existence, a pretty miserable life for the many, that is what socialism does.
Article writer notes a hundred years of progressive policies have failed to deliver, starting with Wilson and suggests that is finally enough to convince voters to reject such policies, but they have not yet.
Democrats know that, but don't blame progressivist policies, they blame not enough progressivist policies and opposition from republicans, and dont view anything they do as failures. Example with recent Texas power outages, AOC claiming not GND ideas caused power to fail, but not fully embracing GND ideas as in complete abandonment of NGAS led to the failures, not enough wind mills.
Now today writer is failing to notice progressives want an unlimited immigration to come here by the millions to vote for progressive policies forever, like what Venezuela is experiencing.
But I hope he is right. But a hundred years of failed socialist progressive policies and the country still elected Biden.

the reality seems like the country is slowly becoming more socialist-progressive with every passing decade and we cycle our prosperity depending on who we elect. Progressive governments must have a different idea of success and prosperity than I do as in they like a Venezuela kind of model and just think they can improve on it. AOC blames Venezuelan failures on US policies. Not a single one will ever blame the ideology.
