Both these subjects both have quite a bit more context than just a proof text. Differences on these topics are more about interpretation than proof-texting.

I acknowledge that there are bad usages of proof-texting, but the great thing about a person referring to a proof-text is that at least then the other person knows where to find the context -- right in his or her Bible.

So would say making theology as Mormons do with Baptism for the dead would be a good example, eh?

I'd say that is a good example of building a doctrine on only one verse -- which is what I was referring to when I mentioned that in reference to kyredneck's question. I don't say that is exactly the same thing as proof-texting, though they are related in that each is using a "text" for "proof". But, for example, in proof-texting one could also give a list of 20 texts. Ultimately, as I see it, the proof text is just a starting point and then one comes to the exegesis and interpretation.

The proof texts are always ilsolated and taken out of contex, and the entire Bible not used as reference, correct?

Yes, proof texts posted online are more likely to serve as a starting point by catching someone's attention enough to cause them to search a thing out on their own.

You think it's intentional? Hmm, I suppose a question mark indiscriminately placed at the end of each statement would tend to draw responses on an online discussion board. But then again, maybe spelling isn't his only problem, but also one with correct punctuation. Considering the previous post I'm wondering if he can't count! :)

Think maybe the Lord sent me so that others can show His grace towards me, maybe?

In MOST people, that would be correct!
