With some 60 responses, I thought it would be interesting to have a poll about this.


Please note this is a multiple choice poll

Just so there is no confusion - some people use the term blue geans for overhalls

I did want a couple more options, but was limited to ten.

Whatever the church and local culture deem acceptable within biblical modesty. Our area is pretty laid back. Some Sundays I wear a suit, but mostly i don't. I never wear one for Sunday night or wednesday night.

And, yes, my wife wears pants to Sunday morning service. If she did, she wold be the only woman in church who did.

Remember the comparison made in James of treating the rich man, well dressed and a gold ring, and the poor man in dirty clothes? Neither was condemned for what he wore, but I'd say they both wore the best they had for a God who deserves our best. Just my two cents worth. It seems to me the casual dress is more about trying to be cool than anything else, cuz some of those casual clothes cost more than my dress shirts from J.C. Penneys on sale.

I'd say neat and clean as best as you can. I'd rather a guy come straight from work being dirty and messy - but at church - than for him to have to go home, shower and clean up - and miss church.

I did not see anything about a dress code- Unless I missed it, I will go by my statement of "When you remain silent, you have spoken"

I did listen to the video- Interesting - the first reason for attending his church was the "killer music" I prefer to attend church for the Bible teaching

Also they have an extremely brief doctrine statment.

Too many believers are majoring on the minors. As long as we are dressed modestly, God doesn't care. In Christ's day, it was the Pharisees who cared about dressing up in their best religious garb. There's not a single verse of Scripture instructing us on how to dress when we assemble. The verses that are used must be egregiously twisted out of context to make the intended point.

Modestly. Everything else is superfluous & self-serving.

Good man, nor am I ...but this is the type of dummying down nonsense that is being peddled around the great state of NJ these days....note that it never addresses anybody over a certain age bracket.

IF you're dressing that way to give the impression to your target "market" that you're cool, the entire church is cool, and it's cool to "come to Jesus", instead of relying on the Redeemer Himself to draw His people to Him, then there should be a problem.

IF you're all prettified up with them 3-piece suit and tie and all perfumed up so Christian Dior himself blushes and you're dressed up that way so your target "market" again thinks Jesus is for the all dolled up, instead of relying on the Holy Spirit, there should be a problem.

You see, most "hip" churches today are "hip" and "cool" to get young people in so they can "meet Christ", increase their numbers, and "spread the word".

I don't know if this "liquid" church is like that, and I don't care to find out, either.
As for OUR church, our pastors NEVER go up their pulpit on Sunday in short-sleeves or turtlenecks or slacks or khakis or shorts because they are not used to facing Christ's people that way, and God's people are not used to seeing them that way, and, yes, there is a certain air of expectation of propriety.
