Protesters block streets ... what would you do?

I have no problem with folks protesting for a cause they feel strongly about, but when their right to free speech interrupts my freedom to navigate, peacefully, the roads in the cities I live, then they have gone too far! What do you believe when it comes to these crowds stopping the low of traffic, illegally, by taking over our streets? And yes, I know the streets are theirs too, but where does their freedom cease and ours begin?

Police need to move them by whatever means necessary and charge all of them that they can physically arrest before they disband. Blocking a city street or a state or federal highway is a crime.

They block streets in Portland all the time during rush hour. The police tolerate most anything including vandalism to stores. Last big one they let them close an interstate then had to get them out when it was mess.

Streets aren't too bad since you can take a different route but backing up traffic on the interstate is totally dumb.

Here's what one driver in Illinois did:

"...Police say they continued marching throughout the downtown streets, briefly assembled in front of the Carbondale Police Department, before returning to the Town Square Pavilion.

According to police, as they were returning to the pavilion, a vehicle tried to drive through the demonstrators in the 200 block of East Main Street while they were blocking traffic.

In the video, you see the driver stop his vehicle just before the protesters. The driver gets out of his vehicle and shouts at protesters.

“All lives matter, not blacks, all lives,” the driver said.

He then gets back into his vehicle, revs his engine and then speeds through the group."

No one was injured, though one demonstrator took a ride on the hood of the vehicle.

Even when not protesting, there's a certain culture that loves to block the road, although usually not deliberately. In certain neighborhoods, the people seriously degrade the quality of life for everyone by their behavior, aside from crime.

They should be removed with physical force, if necessary. Roads are for vehicles and crossing pedestrians, the right to assemble is not absolute.

If caught in one, I'd try to back out but if I had to, I'd go forward slowly. What I'd never do is to get out of the vehicle, Reginald Denny taught me that much.

I might try to go forward slowly. Not sure. But I think Reginald was pulled out of his vehicle.
