This post is directed particularly to the Arminians and others who hold to a limted view of predestination.

"Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties." (Ps. 141:4)

Does this prayer of David seem to indicate "free will?"

Absolutely! David recognizes that he COULD do such a thing, but asks God to keep him safe, similar to "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." David is both free and he recognizes God as sovereign, just as a good Arminian believes!

David prayed that God would not incline his heart to do evil. Why would he utter such words if it were not within God's prerogative, power, or disposal to do so? By whose Spirit was Jesus led into the wilderness to be tempted of the Devil?

"Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD." (Jer. 17:5)
