Psalm 40:2 —*my translation

Dear All,

There's no easy and brief way to fully show how to analyze Scripture with Strong's Concordance. Here is Psalm 40:2 with all the Strong's Numbers for all the words, and all the stems:

40:2 He brought me up {5927} <8686> also out of an horrible {7588} pit, {953} (4480) out of the miry {3121} clay, {2916} (4480) and set {6965} <8686> my feet {7272} upon (5921) a rock, {5553} [and] established {3559} <8790> my goings. {838}

If you do the "Strong's Gymnastics", making sure you look up every Strong's number, and use the verbs only under their proper stems (Hiphil, Polel) I think you will agree that the following is a valid translation:

Psalm 40:2 He brought me up out a roaring pitt, out of the miry mud, and raised up my feet upon a rock, and set up my goings.

1. What is the point of this thread?

2. I have asked in other threads for you to inform the board of your Christian faith, whether or not you are in agreement with the kind of folks that make up the group "Jesus Seminar" but you have not answered.

3. Could you please let us all know what you believe.

1. Do you confess that Jesus is LORD, that is God come in the flesh?
2. Do you confess that Christ was crucified, according to the Scriptures?
3. Do you confess that Christ was risen from the dead, according to the Scriptures?
4. Do you confess that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the infallible, inerrant, Word of God? That they are God-breathed with no mixture or adulteration of human thought and wisdom?

Sorry, is your post intended to be a criticism of Strong's Concordance, or of the KJV (or some other English translation) of Psalm 40.2? Perhaps you didn't mean either of those things, but I for one would be glad if you would clarify what you did mean. Thanks!

My Translation

Call this DDV, 'Deacons Devotional Version'
I've been working through the books of Psalms recently.
From the number of books on cue, it will be a couple of years before I'm through.
Psalms are poety: translating them sometimes streteches the language.

Psalm 40:1-3
TO THE CHOIRMASTER. A PSALM OF DAVID.

With despairing hope, I longed for YHWH
And he stretched out (his hand) to me
And heard my cry for help.
He lifted me up from the destructive crevasse,
out from it’s entrapping clay,
and established my feet upon a secure rock,
and steadied my steps.

He gave me a new song to sing,
A praise song to God.
Many will view (his works) and (be filled) with awe.
and put their trust in YHWH.

Never mind, hopeless. Not worthy of comment.
