My son attends a private preschool right now. When he goes to kindergarten, I will probably send him to a local public school (if it stays the way it is now), because it is just as good as many private schools. The public vs. private debate really depends on the individual schools in question and the financial situation of the family. The way I look at it is this: If I can send my son to school for 6 years for free, and save money for when it is time for middle school to go to private school, then all the better. Perhaps, this could prove to be naive of me. Who knows?

I guess I will find out.

Public school is alright but I would rather be homeschooled. The only reason I really see in going to public school is that you can witness to them.

i would not want to be homeschooled at all. I love going to school to see my friends. My school is blessed to have a Christian principal. Also most of the teachers are Christian. There have been times that have been hard but they have made my faith in God stronger.

I went to public and private school. I loved both. My experiences there have helped shape me into who I am today. My kids will start off at private school, but thats just because it looks like I will be teaching at one in the fall.

I have several homeschooled piano students, and they function ok, but in my experience (note that phrase before slicing into me, please)they are farther behind socially and in the arts. Musically, all they know is what I have taught them. My public school students are more well rounded, even though they know more "about the world".

Most often children either fail or do well once they leave home. If a child is taught to fear the world then they will not have enough boldness to win anyone. Scripture teaches the righteous are bold as a lion. If a person falters because of being in the world then he did not come with much in the first place. There is only one way I know to gain boldness and it isn't sitting on the sidelines waiting to get strong. It is in the world that a person's faith is put to the test. Faith in God works everywhere. Just look at Daniel. If one relies on himself for boldness and feels so weak he can't move then his focus is on himself and not God.

Heb. 11:6, "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."

If I had kids, I would rather have them homeschooled. I see the filth that is in the grade schools and high schools. It makes one wonder where this world is headed.

God calls some people to a foriegn country in the same way I feel I am called to serve God in my PUBLIC high shcool. I try to live my life for Jesus everyday. I go to a very small school. It is the kind of school where everyone knows everyone. Even if I am not telling them about Christ I try to let them see His light in my life. To not go to public school for me would be like a missionary saying "God I don't want to go to Africa I will face too many difficulties and trials. How about I just stay home?" Kinda like Jonah.

Sure life would be easier if I went to a private school or was home schooled but I have found that when things are going good we forget that we need God. (I am not saying I go to public shcool just so I will have hard times so I will have to lean on God.)

Faith Girl, I have seen the filth too and as a Christian I stand out when I say I don't believe in what is going on. People ask why I am different. That opens doors for witnessing.

Also, If you take all the Christian teachers and students from public schools how do you expect things to get better???

I hadn't looked at it that way. Thank you for another point of view.
