I won't be able to watch it where I'm at, but is that a direct quote from the video? Is it directly referring to Jack Hyles?

 

I hope it was referring to Jesus, but a picture of Jack Hyles appears right after he says the word "god man" Just watch it and you will see what I am talking about.

I watched the video and it is sickening. Talk about lifting up a man over Christ. He does say god man and right after is a picture of Hyles.

 

Sounds like the baby got book video that so many people thought was 'cute'.

 

Ok, so I'm coming in late, but I just watched that Purpose Driven, Smitty video...funny stuff. Yes, folks, that is clearly meant to be funny, not meant as any kind of worship video.

Of course, if we really wanted to know the point, being at the conference would help.

I realize we have people here that just can't wait to see a church, pastor, etc brought down (curious motivation there), but out of context, you can have someone saying, doing, believing anything. Give me a camera and an imac and a trip to their church I'll have anyone on this board preaching heresey.

 

Satire is always wasted on those with no sense of humor. I am still waiting on the KJOist and Hymn onlist crowd to condemn the later video which wasn't meant as satire. Could it be that there is an inconsistency because the real issue is not what is said, but that it must be said in a manner "I" approve of?

I was not aware that anyone had advocating the use of this video to reach people for Christ. By the look of it, I'd say it was an intro video to a conference they had. Its so hard to tell, what with very little context and all.

You folks realize that even the rapper's name, "smitty" is a joke, right? Please tell me that you didn't actually think that this was a real ccm rapper out there aping Michael W. Smith's nickname only to say he's worshipping more than him. You got the joke, right?

And for the record, I never went to a bar with a priest and rabbi...that was also a joke.

And if someone says, "knock, knock" you don't need to go get the door.

 

Yes, but what you fail to realize, even after it has been pointed out several times, this video was not meant to reach people for Christ. It was pure SATIRE, i.e., it was meant to be a joke. There is nothing different between this video, and say a pastor telling a few jokes before his sermon, save the format, of course. If you have sucha problem with this, do you have a problem if your pastor says a joke or two before a sermon? Surely those jokes were not meant to bring people to Christ.

As for the Jack Hyles video, that is absolutely sickening, and what's worse it was not meant to be viewed satirically.

and yes, it did make me want to make me barf too... that man was lying deciever and a cult leader. and so is his son-in-law!!!!!

And what is not seen by many is that it is filth being played at a supposed worship conference. That speaks volumes about those hosting the conference. As I said, 'touch not, taste not, handle not.'

But you are right, it is not reaching people for Christ. It is turning them to a false christ. One that does not care if his children fill their minds and hearts with all manner of filth. One that is deceiving many and leading down a path to destruction.

I am appalled also at this video. Any church that sets their pastor up as a 'God-man', is set for a big fall.

I know Jack Hyles has been dead for a few years, but from what I see, and what I read and hear, many in his sil's congregation are deceived greatly.

Pastor, I think those of us who stand on God's Word need to pray for the people in both Schapp's congregation and in Warren's congregation as well.

Jeremiah, the weeping prophet wailed because of the sins committed by God's chosen people. We should as well.

David wrote in the book of the Psalms, 'My soul shall boast in the Lord.' We are to lift Him up and not man. Man is a vile creature because of one man's disobedience.

Only through Christ and His sacrifice for our sins can we be presentable to God.

You failed to address the point I made. It was a JOKE, an icebreaker, if you will. It might have been at a worship conference, but it was not a "song" of worship. It was SATIRE aimed at an audience that would appreciate the joke. It is no different than a pastor using a joke or two as an icebreaker. Do you also have a problem with that? I'm sorry, but I fail to see how a JOKE is leading people down a path to destruction, especially when the audience was well aware that it was done as a JOKE. Ever heard of discernment? People do practice it.

 

Jokes such as that do not belong in the house of God, nor in the body of Christ. We are not to take pleasure in unrighteousness. If you feel it is ok, you too are deceived.

 

Wow----I wonder who is going to fill that chair? I guess Jesus can't do it without help.
