I don't think it matters. Here is what we know for sure. Sexual choices are a choice. When a man has sexual relations with another man, it is a choice. When a man has sexual relations with a woman, it is a choice. There may be a "bent" towards one kind or the other, but the actions and thoughts are choices we make. No one is forced to have sex with anyone (apart from rape). We need not, even cannot give up the "choice issue."
Some would object that if there is a homosexual genetic bent, forbidding them to act on it is cruel or mean, or doesn't allow them to be who they are. But that is true with all of us in all areas. We are sinners by nature. God calls us to holiness, thus calling us to deny what we are born with ... an innate sin nature.
If homosexuality is caused by genetics, couldnt one say the same thing about pedophilia, bestiality, and other perversions of God's natural order?
I have copied from a couple different posts. And in combining these as I have, I have a concern to voice. Since homosexuals and their supporters are working so hard to legitimize homosexuality, once they get that legitimized, what will prevent others from trying to get pedophilia, bestiality, and other perversions legitimized under the same reasoning? God has said homosexuality is an abominations, as well as these other perversions, yet if the homosexuals aren't allowed to pursue happiness with their partner without being given the right acceptance and rights as heterosexual people, then they say they are being discriminated against. If they (the homosexuals) win that fight, will the pedophiles rise up and demand their rights to be able to pursue their happiness in sexual relationships with minors (children, teens, etc.)? And what about those other groups out there practicing bestiality, and other perversions? Will they too demand the same rights? Some would object that if there is a homosexual genetic bent, forbidding them to act on it is cruel or mean, or doesn't allow them to be who they are. But that is true with all of us in all areas. We are sinners by nature. God calls us to holiness, thus calling us to deny what we are born with ... an innate sin nature.
