Question About Spiritual Warefare

When I came to Christ about 16 months ago, I was warned to expect spiritual pushback from the enemy. They were not joking.

Am curious about others’ experiences as new/young-in-the-Faith believers.

I have been a Christian for almost nine years (this April) and been a God-called preacher for almost two years. The battlefield is tough and we are attacked at every end. I find that Satan has his hand in most things around me. Sometimes, the battle is in my mind/soul and other times the situation is something I have been caught up in.

Since I began the ministry, my sister forsook Christ and backslid into a lost condition. Satan has used every weapon he can to drive us apart. I know that is definitely from the devil. Beforehand, she was as faithful as they come. Blessed to sing and play many instruments to worship God, but the devil tempted her and she eventually left the faith. Some might say she can't lose her salvation or maybe she wasn't saved to begin with. I witnessed the fruit in her life start as vibrant and glorifying until it began to rot.

I have also fought many battles myself, and watched as the devil worked his lies into the lives of people I love. He has lied to me numerous times, and likes to sow seeds of discord among God's people.

Some might think I over spiritualize the struggles of life, but I am reminded of what the Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesian church:

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12

That struggle against evil has been going since day one. I believe every battle we fight connects to the supernatural in some fashion. We just don't understand it.

My advice to a young Christian is to keep your eyes on Jesus Christ, and trust that he will provide help in your time of need to deliver you from temptations, trials, and the workings of Satan.

This is an old song from my neck of the woods, but sums up my thoughts on this topic very well. Give it a listen.
