Icon, I appreciate this but it is unnecessary. Have you noticed that the posters who have questioned the validity of OP have made no meaningful contribution to the discussion? When people react that way it is often due to the fact that their conscience is bothering them over their own behavior.
thisnumbersdisconnected asked this mocking question:
Even though his question was not asked in sincerity, I am more than happy to answer it.
My hope was that there would be constructive discussion as to the reason why professed Christians on this board would block each other. And I am not just asking this question of others; I have asked it of myself. Why have I acted in this way? There are posters, even in this thread, who I have blocked; but I have nothing against them personally. I am sure they are fine persons; it is just that we cannot seem to get along on this board. I surmise there are a few posters who have blocked me. The pendulum swings both ways. All my friend did was cause me to think about my motivations and what that says about me as a Christian.
The purpose of the thread was, as I previously stated, to have constructive discussion as to the reason why professed Christians on this board wold block each other. Why? Is such behavior a commentary on Christians as a whole? Do we treat each other like this in the local church? Should we treat each other differently?
Although my friend is unable to see it, I can see the disjointed nature of a thread when I have one or two people blocked and other people are responding to them. I cannot read those posts unless I click on "view post" or the person's post is quoted by someone else. While I still think it is necessary to block certain people, there is something unsettling about it. I am not sure what it is. Maybe it is Jesus' admonition that we love one another or His prayer that we all be one. Maybe I am more bothered by the ideal as opposed to reality.
I see no reason to block anyone or to censor anyone.Some may want to block someone for awhile to calm down i guess if they got themselves over-heated.
When people react that way it is often due to the fact that their conscience is bothering them over their own behavior.
Yes...some do not really like the interaction .they want to jump into the debate ring...throw a few punches ...but when any return post comes their way, they whine or make it personal.
If someone gets into a habit of posting using unwholesome speech, or violating the 9th commandment...it could be that their profession of faith is wanting...at least according to scripture-
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
We have all used unwholesome speech in our lives.A saved person is no longer bound to do so and as the image of God is being restored in us, we should make great progess in no longer speaking and thinking as we used to do....
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
failuire to do this will show up in the posts....as it reflects the inner thoughts and intents of the heart.
