The church I pastor is an IFB. We do not have rules requiring anyone to wear dresses... (In fact, it gets so cold here in winter that it would be downright mean to make that a standard)Nor do we teach the heresy of KJVOnlyism.
I resent anyone lumping all into a group and labelling us. Each congregation needs to be led of the Holy Spirit to determine the proper decorum they will adhere to. This covers the whole of their corporate experience. It should not be just the pastor or any one member making these determinations, but the spirit filled congregation.
excuse me... sorry to get so excited...(wiping the sweat off my brow)
California is a very large state. It really depends on where you live. I live in Orange County, which is moderately conservative. Folks tend to judge CA by Los Angeles (moderately liberal) and San Francisco (very liberal), discarding less populated regions. (Compared to SF and LA, every other region is "less populated").Originally posted by RightFromWrong:
I live in California, probably one of the most liberal of states.
It's really a no-brainer.Originally posted by PreachTREE:

i agree John, but should the world's definition of modesty be the same as the church's?
like i stated earlier, what happens if the world believes wearing a bathing suit to church is modest?
Times change. This is one of those issue where, yes, the perception of modesty changes.should we evolve when the world does?
Where scripture speaks, we should speak. Where scripture is silent, we should be silent. Scripture instructs Christians to dress modestly. Scripture does not, however, tell us what the minimal guidelines for modesty are (such as, how high the hem shound be, etc).Originally posted by PreachTREE:
i think the "perception" of modesty should be set by us christians instead of the world.
hahaha....i dont think modesty changes. Fashion does.Originally posted by StefanM:
If the standard of modesty doesn't change, then we should adopt modest A.D. 1st century clothing.
