Here is the definition to clear up any confusion about what racism means.
rac·ism /ˈreɪsɪzəm
–noun 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
So we have 3 choices in this dictionary.com definition of racism.
#1 states that racism is a belief of inherent differences among races and they determine cultural or individual achievement...and USUALLY but apparently not ALWAYS involving the idea that one's own race is superior or has the right to rule others.
So according to the definition of dictionary.com (if we accept it as an authoritative definition and in this case I will for argument's sake) one can practice racism merely by having the belief of inherent differences among races and these differences determine cultural or individual achievement. You don't even have to follow it with the idea that one's own race is superior because it says USUALLY includes that but obviously it doesn't say ALWAYS.
So any of you that believe there are inherent difference in the races...you are on the border of being a racist, particularly if you believe the differences effect cultural or individual achievement. Simply coming to this conclusion to some apparently is a sin. I looked and so far NOTHING is in the Bible declares that such a belief is a sin. My suggestion is you send this to the authors of
The Bell Curve.
#2 It is a political system of fostering the doctrine of discrimination. Again, I find nothing in the Bible about this. No where does the Bible state it is sinful for a government to discriminate.
#3 Ah yes, Hatred or intolerance of another race. And it is only here we find anything addressed in Scripture. Scripture deals with forms of hatred, some legitimate and some sinful. Some things we can hate and some things we may not. As well some things we must love and some things we must not love. So only in one of the 3 definitions does the Bible even touch on the topic.
And it is clear that one need not be #3 but hold to #2 or/and #1 and be a racist, neither of which is defined as or from HATRED. Hmmm...yes. It appears quite clear that according to dictionary.com's definition the Bible does not address either #! or #2 so stating absolutely that Racism is a Sin when the Bible makes so such declaration firstly and secondly if one holds to #1 and/or#2 they are not defined as doing so in hatred...so that makes it a matter of CONSCIENCE in liberty.
I am sure, of course, there are liberty thieves among us who apparently view God as lackadaisical and irresponsible in giving us such liberties and want to take back what God has granted and set new boundaries.
