I didn't see an "edit" option for the "Denomination" either. You might have to have a moderator or administrator edit that for you.I've tried, is there something I'm missing? I don't see that as an option.
Welcome to Baptist Board, a friendly forum to discuss the Baptist Faith in a friendly surrounding.
Your voice is missing! You will need to register to get access to all the features that our community has to offer.
We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

I don't think you can - I tried about 5 years ago when I switched from Baptist to Anglican but the system wouldn't let me hence I am still down as a Baptist.Walter,
You need to change your profile from "Baptist" to Roman Catholic.
I would not have a problem going on a RC board to honestly seek an answer to a question.
For example, I might ask: "Where does the Bible talk about purgatory"
I would not "debate" any answer, but simply want to understand their point of view. Does not mean I would agree.
We ARE Christians. As long as I have been following this board (and it has been for many years before I actually joined) it has been people leaving Baptist and other Protestant churches for Catholic and Orthodox ones. Just sayin'. Maybe that the real reason they banned them!
For those here who believe the RCC is not Christian, what are you basing that on?
I don't believe Calvinism is correct, but I don't deny that Calvinists are Christians.
Because of the numerous threads as of late on the RCC, it has been alleged or come to light that some on this board go to Catholic boards to disrupt the forum. I was actually surprised to hear this, as it has never entered my mind.
This is a Baptist forum to discuss Baptist theology. The moderators give some leeway in discussing other faiths, but not to the degree of taking over and destroying the forum. As DHK has said, it is a priviledge to post here, not a right.
My question is, do you think it is right to go to other boards (Catholic in particular) to either get even or disrupt theirs. I do not think is it right. If we do have members doing this, this could be the very reason we have this happening to us. I can see no purpose in going to a Catholic board to "get even." Does anyone know if this has actually happened or not?
I have been here six years and have never seen Salty post anything but in a civil manner. Since I have never been to a Catholic board, I have no idea where they draw the line. Since of the four posting pro Catholic doctrine one got banned last night, it is obvious where the line is on this board. You always post in a kind and Christ-like manner and make no effort to mock or belittle. I'm sure you would be welcome at any of the Catholic boards I have visited. Even if you wanted to debate, the manner in which you do so on this board indicates to me that you would not offend people there.
Well, I have an affinity for Baptist as Baptist really do intend to follow scripture and I was one for many, many years. In fact, if I weren't Catholic, I would still be baptist with Calvinistic Leanings. I don't mind Baptist issues and would like to speak specifically about them but often times Catholic Questions come up and of course I like to answer them. As far as posting on Catholic boards even raiding those boards, I think you should as long as you're not using condemning language like: "all catholics are worshipers of the devil" or " the Pope is the Anti-Christ" or "the catholic church is the whore of babylon". I think you should ask the hard questions of Catholics with out being rude. I think you should bring up your view of Justification, or Salvation, or a multitude of other things. I would encourage you to do it. The reason for this is two fold. One, like iron sharpen iron you force the Catholic to question these things for themselves and study the subject. And two it makes Catholics consider their relationship with God and how it plays out in their lives and maybe you'll make a difference for them. Maybe they will educate you. Either way both groups of people will benefit if they provide reasoned debate and consider the eternal consequences for their respective beliefs. Also it forces people to know their scriptures which is one method of how God reveals himself to us.Because of the numerous threads as of late on the RCC, it has been alleged or come to light that some on this board go to Catholic boards to disrupt the forum. My hunch about Catholic boards having less tolerance than ours is due to talking to devout Catholics where I have worked. Another hint is that Catholic leadership basically believes that anyone outside the RCC is headed for the Lake of Fire. Baptists are few and far between that believe that about all Catholics.
817 In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious dissensions appeared and large communities became separated from full communion with the Catholic Church - for which, often enough, men of both sides were to blame."269 The ruptures that wound the unity of Christ's Body - here we must distinguish heresy, apostasy, and schism270 - do not occur without human sin:
Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.271
818 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers . . . . All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."272
819 "Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth"273 are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements."274 Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church. All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him,275 and are in themselves calls to "Catholic unity."276
