I can get the same message about the sad state of the nation from any of Trump's previous campaign speeches. Any of them. Including the mother of all doom-and-gloom speeches, his acceptance speech at the RNC. We know where Trump stands on the US being a "third world country".

I am critiquing this Inauguration speech. This is the topic of the thread, not your perceived comparison of me to ancient Israelites.

Trump gives lousy speeches. This was a lousy speech.

I was on base. My response to you is in and of itself a critique of his speech.

It invoked in you the crybaby attitude that you wanted your EGO TICKLED and he didn't do it!
He won't do it. Ever.

No, I wanted to hear a different speech than his stump speech. Apparently he didn't surround himself with one competent speech writer.

Apparently he didn't surround himself with one competent speech writer.

Maybe because it was originally written in Russian and lost something in the translation? "American carnage" sounds more Russian than English.

On the plus side, it was only 16 minutes. Really, it was only four minutes because that's all the material Trump has, but he repeated himself.

Well, considering now that the news is reporting that Steve Bannon, a known anti-semite, white supremacist actually wrote the speech...I stand by my original assessment.

Also, I'm not nearly as young as you may think I am. I've lived a long time, been through some seriously hard times and had the self-awareness to constantly re-evaluate my beliefs and positions as reality continuously chose to rise up and smack me in the face. I would advise everyone to take time to develop that self-awareness.

Sister, there was enough reality expressing itself in the streets yesterday to give everyone pause...let's See what happens next. With Trump, prepare to be surprised.:)

I think he wanted to be himself as much as is possible with a teleprompter.

He knew that this event would be watched around the world and perhaps by billions of people.

The puppy market has gone through the roof :)

Yes he is a sinner and he has admitted that he is as well as others, LOTS of others.

Rather than accuse him publicly of sin (as that is a given, not only for him but for all of us), I intend to pray for him publicly and privately.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

Father, reveal your grace to him, grant him mercy, wisdom and your righteousness.

One minor detail: where are his fruits meet for repentance? Lack of repentance is a worldwide malady. It is difficult for a life-long narcissist to repent. DJT has a serious case of Megalomania.

Who has some sackcloth and ashes?

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

I doubt seriously I'll like the surprise..
Here is how I see the guy (and I seriously pray that I am totally wrong & he is responsible). He is used to being in control, he is a detail guy (manager) so he hates to delegate. With that said, he sent Sean Spicer into the press to vent & to tell them off---and that makes Spicer look like an erratic fool. Then today on 'Meet The Press,' he sends in Kelly Ann Conway to lamb baste Chuck Todd (evening imposing threats to Chuckie). These are all the markings of a bully & a guy who is in reality very insecure. Its only a matter of time until he upsets everyone then implodes.

Again, I really REALLY hope I am wrong, but .....well I don't know. He has been acting this way for a really long time (He yelled at the then Speaker of the house in NJ several years ago about something that happened at his casino holdings in Atlantic City --- profanities included) so apparently he has never matured.

Maybe this is a good thing---We can all pray for him in solidarity that he can responsibly pull together a plan to make our country a better place to live.

Keep in mind - this was an inaugural speech - this is Trumps day - A simple, short to the point speech is fine. The only improvement would be a liner - that is memorable - such as JFK's "Ask not what your country....."

Not sure if Trump will give a State of the Union Address - which I think he should - if so - then that speech would carry much weight.

I don't know about his fruits or absence thereof since I don't live with him 24X7.

But there is one who knows him for every nano-second of his life, past, present, future...

Neither do I know what a day will bring for Trump.

But there is one who does.

Why not pray for him?

What do you have to lose?

Dumb observations: Hitler claimed to be a Christian. Some of his progeny, the KKK , burn crosses in people's yards thinking they are doing God a service. Mr. Trump claims to be a Christian. Where is the evidence? His words and actions seem to indicate he may not be a follower of Jesus, The Christ, Son of the Living God.

Mr. Trump needs our prayers for sure; so do we all.

Where in the scripture does the world get better before Jesus returns?

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Me thinks that Mr. Trump is just only using the generic term of Christian - ie his parents were christians - so he must be. (notice small "c")
Mr. Trump needs our prayers for sure; so do we all.

If JFK gave his inaurgural speech today, he would be crucified by the left.
