Nope, never been in the military. Recruited by the Navy when I was 18, but I declined.

    Pop quiz. [IMG]

What do I do? Decipher the following and tell me what you think I do and what I have done. Be as specific as you can. [IMG]

I work as a SAN engineer on HP/HDS and worked on EMC for 5 years. I'm a CNE and a CNA and spent some time studying to be a MCSE.

Keeping it on the DMZ, got to go ASAP, strictly BYOB. Bye!

    :D

PS. Extra credit for correctly identifying where my last line comes from.

PSS. Without looking it up!

So called due to the fact that servers within this zone on the network are outside an organization's internal firewall and thus exposed to the internet

That last line I quoted is from a movie. It has nothing to do with anything in this thread, other than it has 3 acronyms in it.

Oh well. Its been two years since I've seen that one. (I think.)

Well, we can cover "Storage Area Network" "Certified Network Admin." "Certified Network Eng." "Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer" and I've got to go home, the lights just went out. Bye

And Johnv comes in with the line and wins... uh, well, a hearty handshake, a pat on the back and the warm glow of victory. :D

My kids have watched it over and over and over and over and... well, you get the point.

Also, I work in IT, or IS, or MIS, or whatever your organization calls it. IT probably doesn't have as many acronyms as the military, but we come relatively close.

And talk about hijacking a thread.

    To return to the thread:

Reading C.S. Lewis can be dangerous, but only if you lack maturity and discernment.

I must have posted at the same time you were posting, Phillip.

    CNE = Certified Novell Engineer
    CNA = Certified Novell Administrator

I work as a SAN (satisfied artistic nut) engineer on HP/HDS (high profile and high density sites) and worked on EMC (emergency mental cases) for 5 years. I'm a CNE (certified nut extreme) and a CNA (certified nut advanced) and spent some time studying to be a MCSE (medical coroner for sane engineers).

Keeping it on the DMZ (defensive mental zone), got to go ASAP (alongside all patients), strictly BYOB (bring your own banana). Bye!

That sentence contains more intelligence than 90% of the rest of the thread.

(Except Helen's acronyms. My daughter is a CNA, working on her RN (really nuts). I'll have to tell her what you said, Helen.)

    Yes, NOVELL. I knew that.......

Here in the military the IT boss is a DOIM. Like most military acronyms, I have NOT bothered to determine what it means.

    Shoulda known:

    Directorate of Information Management

Everything in the Army has a "directorate".

I work in the "Directorate of Engineering" blah blah blah.

Just so we don't go off subject, I'll get back to the "Directorate for C.S. Lewis studies".

I have a distinct feeling that a few passionate beings have hijacked this thread. Domini, yes, I am a fool for Christ. I am also iconoclastic; I hate idols. I believe some of you have made CSLewis into an idol and are passionate about him.

By all means read CSLewis, but dont get the idea that what he writes squares with the truth of the Bible. There is much difference between the writings of a semipagan philosopher and the Christ honoring Word of God. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

[Those smileys indicate that I am as cool about this issue as some of you are hot!]

Your believe this is being done by some, but you have failed to name those persons (I had presiously asked you to), while at the same time, you are accusing all of this. It is this attitude that I stongly object to.

I completely agree with you that turning CSL, or turning anything or anyone for that matter, into an idol is wrong. Everyone here agrees with that. But you're accusing us of doing so, when we are not.

My remarks have always been sane and balanced. I have been the target of much misjudgment, vituperation, mud-slinging, abuse and whatnot!
But I dont mind. We have to pay the price for telling the truth.

However, to clarify further, I would say that the attacks against me are due to the fact that there has been very little study and understanding of the Bible. If we know the Word of God, then we can easily spot a 'fake' like Lewis. The defect lies in our laziness; we don't diligently study the Bible and get to know the truth! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

[Those smileys indicate that I have still retained my composure, and am still smiling! [IMG] Phil 4.4 for added measure!]

I just about spit out my Diet Coke with Splenda. Surely you jest, and I don't even know if your name is Shirley. You have certainly implied towards me sinfulness in regards to the topic, when none has been demonstrated. That qualifies you as a being selfrighteous, a false accuser, and a pharisee.

You are, of course, welcome to retract or revise your position towards me, at which time I will gladly and with humility retract my statement.

    BWAHAHAHAHA!!

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Oh, you mean the "truth" that C.S. Lewis is in Hell? Please provide the empirical evidence that backs up your "truth"

So, you're the only one in this entire thread who studies and understands the Bible.

This is merely more of the same condescending attitude that I've come to expect from you.

I agree with one thing. The fake in our midst has been spotted. It would be nice if we could just label him as troll and ignore his posts.

That's great. Perhaps you could take the smugness, condescension and holier-than-thou attitude out of your posts and replace them with love and humility.
