Baptist Believer, IMHO made an excellent post about the beliefs of the left
Now, that does not mean I agree with his positions - but he did articulate them very well!
So On this page - lets discuss them - HOWEVER while discussing those you disagree,
you need to indicate, WHY you disagree - and an answer of "Boy, that is so stupid" will
not be accepted - only thought out answers will be permitted. In addition - lets leave the
jokes off this thread. Lets keep it a very serious thread.
As I stated on the "Liberal Thread" - I have the power to edit .....
So, "reply" to 1, 2, 3 or all the points and make a good point as to why you disagree!
(its okay to say you agree with one or two.

I don't really want to speak for my friends on the left, but I can list a few things in the political/social realm since no one on the left seems to be on Baptistboard:
There's more, but this is a sample of their positions off the top of my head.
- 1. They want our society to create a large safety net for those who have life situations that undermine their ability to earn a living.
- 2. They want our society to provide a means for young people starting out and those who lose their jobs due to technology or economic changes to learn technical skills as well as advance their education through public colleges and universities without drowning in debt.
- 3. They want a way for everyone to have high-quality healthcare at a reasonable rate, without waste or favoritism, and are open to government-backed health systems as a possible means to that end.
- 4. They don't want the government to fund religious groups or religious schools, maintaining institutional separation of church and state.
- 5. They want all persons, regardless of gender, ethnicity, citizenship status, age, social standing, or wealth treated the same before the law.
- 6. They want LGBTQ+ persons treated with humility and kindness, with all the rights, responsibilities, and privileges of citizenship in a secular government.
- 7. They want fairness in the tax code, with persons reaping the most financial benefits from our nation's infrastructure to pay for a larger portion of what has made them successful.
- 8. They want life preserved, from the womb to the tomb, including the elimination of the death penalty.
- 9. They want our nation to have a robust immigration policy that allows temporary worker VISAs for agriculture and other seasonal labor, and attainable paths to citizenship for prospective immigrants.
- 10. They also want our nation to work with other nations to resettle refugees and displaced people, leading by example.
- 11. They want our nation to have a sensible and sustainable environmental policy, when possible, moving away from fossil fuels and developing more green solutions for energy and management of our natural resources. This mandate comes from God's original purpose for humankind to manage the earth properly as a steward to God.
