Refutation of KJV-Only position

Hi Abby,

No one is asking you to read another version or compromise on the gospel. The whole issue is about an *idea about* the KJV, not the KJV itself.

The first poster in this thread asked about a link that deals with an *idea* about the KJV. I responded that it contains good information. Glen then accused us of "constantly attacking the KJV" and general personal harassment. This simply illustrates that some people have a hard time understanding that one can like the KJV but dislike an idea about it. We are not attacking the KJV, and we are not attacking him. We are discussing what we believe to be a false idea about the KJV. And as Christians, I think it is our duty to oppose untruth. Elevating any version beyond what is factual is just as untruthful as demotion of a version beyond what is factual.

For example, there are those that elevate the virgin Mary to near-deity status. Is opposing this idea an "attack on Mary"? No. It is trying to portray Mary in the most truthful light possible. Likewise, neither is opposing KJV-Onlyism an attack on the KJV.

I know there are others that attack not criticize other versions and I am not of their brotherhood. I read the KJV only because that is what I love, use, and study. I'm not concerned with any others not even a greek/hebrew breakdown of the KJV that some seem to revel in. Just my KJV and me and the Lord and I'm one happy camper. Don't make the assumption that just because someone is JKV only they think yours are perversion unless they say so. I know many on here that read the KJV along with all the others but that is not my desire... Just so you know!... Brother Glen
Brother Glen:

By the working definitions most fo us use on thsi board, you are not KJVO but KJV-preferred.

Yes, people do put us down at times because we are KJVO. I've heard it called "archaic", "old fashioned", "out dated", need I go further? I always try hard to respect other people's opinions when ever I post. Prehaps at times I've gotton upset and maybe said things I shouldn't say, but I'm human like all of ya'll. Unless of course some of ya'll have arived and havn't told us?
Yes, I also understand this forum is for discussing Bible "versions", but we are defending what we hold dear. I will defend the KJV always. I am not ashamed of the gospel, and I won't compromise something I know is true.
However I know that ya'll feel the same about ya'lls versions. I know there isn't much I can say to change your minds about whitch version. We are defending what we believe to be right. Now the simple fact is, I wouldn't be saved if it wasn't for what is written in the KJV. It's the Bible I've heard the gospel from since I was about 4 years old. It's the Bible my grandpa used to lead me to the Lord with about 3 years ago. It's the book that I've used to lead others to Christ. Am I gonna change? No. Am I gonna read another version? no.
Brother Glen, as far as I know, has never been anything less than gentlemanly when he posts. It just seems to me that ya'll are being kinda sarcastic. Maybe I'm reading the post wrong. I don't no. I know there are times when people missinterpret what I say completely, maybe that's what I've done here. If so, I apologize.
It just seems to me that we ought to spend our time serving God, rather than arguing about something that isn't doing any good. I mean, we are all goanna stick to the same opinion anyway, right?
IMHO, Abby :(

I am KJV only, but until reading on this forum, I have never heard of anyone thinking the translators were inspired. That's ridiculous, only the writers were inspired.
God has preserved His Word, and blessed the KJV transtation . . . .

make that translation . . . .
