KJV-only advocate Robert Breaker III claimed concerning the first edition of the RVG [Gomez] where the KJV has "well drunk" at John 2:10 "But in his translation, Gomez used the Spanish word for being intoxicated" and that the 2nd edition fixed this (History and Truth about the Reina-Valera Gomez Spanish Bible, p. 26).

Robert Breaker claimed that "the Gomez Bible reads along with the 1960 [Spanish Bible] far too many times for it to be mere coincidence" (p. 48) and that "the Gomez just doesn't read with the corrupt 1960 Spanish Bible in a few places, but time and again" (p. 58).

 

Robert Breaker III asserted: "In 1 Corinthians 7:36, we have a great doctrinal error in the Gomez first edition, and a private interpretation added into the text" (History and Truth about the Reina-Valera Gomez, p. 29)

Breaker added: "notice how the Gomez ADDS the word daughter" (p. 29), and Breaker noted that this is corrected in the second edition.

 

Concerning 1 Corinthians 6:15, Robert Breaker claimed: "Gomez says 'Dios me libre!' (which means God set me free, or God free me!). What is this? KJV says 'God forbid!' 1602 [Valera] says 'Lejos sea! (Far be it!). [New] 1602P[urified] reads 'No lo permite Dios!" (p. 42)

 

Huh? Fixed what?

 

Breaker scanned John 2:10 as found in the first edition of Gomez and it has the Spanish word
"borrachos" which is changed to "bebido mucho" in the 2010 Gomez edition.

 

How does that change the meaning?

 

Perhaps the change made the most times (likely over 5,000 times) to the 1602 Valera Spanish Bible in the 1602 Purified was that of changing "Jehova" to "SENOR." This change seems to have been made to match the KJV's rendering "LORD."

This may also be the most common difference between the 2010 Gomez, which keeps "Jehova", and the 2016 edition called the 1602 Purified.
