Far as is known, Nebuchadnezzar never again practiced any pagan worship after his punishment of seven years' insanity. His proclamation in Aramaic, included in the Book of Daniel, was written & read aloud in Aramaic because it was the most commonly-used language in that time and place, with people from many nations doing business in Babylon, and Aramaic being the international merchants' tongue in that area, much as Esperanto is used among merchants today.

Neb realized that GOD had punished him just as had been prophesied to him, and he also realized it was GOD who had allowed him to survive and to be restored to his throne. Whatever else he was, Neb was a VERY wise man, & God's demonstration of His power wasn't lost upon him. First was the interpretation of his dream about the statue. Evidently, Daniel spoke with a sureness of voice that impressed Neb, and Neb almost certainly recalled his dream as Daniel repeated it aloud. Knowing only a supernatural power could have revealed his dream to Daniel, he remembered the interpretation thereof. But, Neb had been raised from infancy surrounded by, & indoctrinated with, the worship of Bel(Baal), Nergal(Mars), Ishtar(Queen of heaven, Venus), & the other "gods" of the Chaldeans. This wasn't gonna go away overnight, since, while worshipping them, Neb had defeated every foe. He prolly believed that Yahweh was the JEWISH God only, as the Jews had told him God was punishing them for idol-worship by allowing them to be conquered.

Then came the events of Daniel 3. Neb realized that the "Jewish God" had enormous power, but he wasn't quite ready to abandon his life-long worship of the Chaldean idols. He certainly had no idea that Yahweh is *THE* God, & that he has a Son to whom He'd given all power over Earth. Many of the Chaldean gods/goddesses had offspring according to their mythology, which were sometimes more powerful than its parent(s). Thus, for him, in his amazement, to have described the 4th Person in the furnace as resembling "a son of the gods" is quite natural, as even Daniel wasn't aware of who the Messiah would be.

Again, Neb wasn't really aware that Yahweh is the ONE GOD of all the universe, and not just the God of Israel, until after his 7 years of insanity.

BTW...I've found that virtually every ancient pagan religion has a mythology similar to the true story of JESUS among its legends. Ishtar/Asherah/Semiramis had a son who died & was resurrected in great power. But that legend fails to recognize WHO resurrects him. Plainly, it was YAHWEH who resurrected JESUS.
