Replacing a Bibleversion.

God has granted you one use of the power to change all the Bibles of one version in the USA into one other version.
What version do you transform into what other version?

The NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (NIV) is
translated using the English that
is spoken internationally (not just
in the USA or England or Australia).

I know that Engish is the official
language of the city state of Singapore.
Folks there can read the NIV better
than strictly English translations
or American translations.

I am conflicted on this issue myself.
On the one hand turning all NWT Bibles into NKJV's would be good for the souls of many Jehovah's Witnesses throughout the US.

On the other hand thinking about the expression on dr. Bob's face when he discovers his NKJV studybible has been transformed into a Family Rosary edition Douay Reims translation of the Vulgate (with fullcolour photo's of all of the American cardinals of the 50's), makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

That is hard to answer. I agree with the KJV translators on this one ... that a multitude of translations is good to gain the sense of the passage.

I use the NASB 95 Update because, IMO, it is the easiest Bible to preach from. I usually read the NIV for devotional reading. Recently I read some of hte ESV for the first time and liked it fairly well.

However, it is more effective to witness to a JW directly out of the NWT (especially if you can get their older, pre-updated interlinear) than to use any other version. Where other versions disagree with their doctrines, they simply reject the reading. Where the NWT disagrees with their doctrines, they actually have to listen to what you're saying to them.

I have a Confraternity Bible (Catholic 1960's) which lists in detail how many years I can get out of purgatory for prayers, rosaries, bible reading, missals, etc.

And YOUR bible only has pix of red birds? Hah.

What I find surprising is that at the time I am typing this nobody who is KJVO has responded to this poll.
What is easier than answering that you would (for example) swap out the NIV for the KJB.

What exactly does that prove?

The 1611 First Edition King James Bible contained the RCC Apocrypha, A chart of "Scripture" readings (some from the Apocrypha), and a list of Holy Days and Saints Days (including Mary) to be celebrated at the "appointed" time.

Also, the KJV has about 15 readings which are exclusive to the RC Latin Vugate. The KJV translators spoke very highly of Saints Jerome and Augustine in their introduction.
