I would suggest looking at the history(which I lived through) of around 1974 through 1985, if you want to see a sustained inflation problem.
I remember my dad complaining about inflation during that time. I graduated high school in 1984. Inflation today is still very bad. It peaked at like 9.1% under Biden and has dropped down to like 2.9% but the damage is already done.

Think how much greater the damage was back when I graduated from high school in 1974 and college in 1978 and was starting out my adult life in the very, very high sustained inflation back then.

Frankly, I think that the Federal Reserve and its lengthy Quantitative Easing program after 2008 caused people to get soft when it comes to dealing with prices rising and now they complain if they deal with the issue for 2-3 years(at a much shorter time frame and lower level than back when I was starting my working career) and think that this brief inflation problem coming out of the pandemic is the worst thing any person has ever lived through economically.

There was also very high inflation coming out of World War II. Major economic disruptions, such as major wars and pandemics, cause major economic dislocations.

Liz Cheney is still a member of the Republican Party. Cheney voted for what Donald Trump wanted while she was in Congress. The only reason he turned on her was because she would not go along with his attempt to overthrow the result of the 2020 presidential election.

Ideologically, I disagree with her on a lot of her foreign policy views, but I admire her for standing up for the republic and not kowtowing to Trump like so many weak-kneed Republicans have done.
Well, Cheney proved herself to be a liar and a charlatan when she worked with the j6 committee to suppress evidence exonerating DT and pushed false testimony…..

…and then they destroyed all their “evidence” so it could never be reviewed.

She has ZERO credibility and her statements will not change a single vote in November.

peace to you

The first ones are too early for me, old timer :Biggrin.

The earliet election I remember anything of was Jimmy Carter. That's because they gave out peanut erasers when I was in Elementary school.....and I remember seeing his brother drunk in Plains GA during the campaign. I do remember the gas lines and ration cards.

But I was too young to know or understand the economical issues.

I don't think it matters much.

Obviously there was an overreaction in many arrests (non-violent protestors who didn't enter the Capitol).

Obviously saying the elected President is Illegitimate or the election was stolen is not a crime (Pelosi, Schumer, and Clinton...not to mention several networks repeatedly said that of Trump).

Obviously Trump did not participate or encourage violence (by his speech).

This does, however, show the dangers of rhetoric and lies that have been present and continue by both sides. The problem is one side can't hold the other responsible for what they themselves do and have done.

I would be ashamed to receive the endorsement of Dick Cheney. Warmonger number one. He lied to all of America knowing before hand that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction but said they did anyway. He lied to the American People on purpose. It is estimated that 4 & 1/2 million Muslims have been killed since Bush's war on terror. The vast majority Women and Children. We have destroyed or tried to destroy Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yemen and overthrew the Governments of many other countries. He is a clear murderer with the blood of millions on his hands.

Dick Cheney and his daughter fail to make any sound, compelling case that Donald Trump would supposedly be a greater threat to our republic than Kamala Harris. Kamala Harris would nominate and appoint left-wing or liberal judges that will undermine the constitution and our republic. Kamala Harris would issue executive orders that undermine the constitution and our republic. Harris would advocate liberal, pro-socialistic policies that harm our republic.

It is not out of defense of our constitution that they oppose Donald Trump. It would be more likely out of personal feelings, spite, or perceived grievances against Trump since they may blame Trump for his daughter being defeated in a campaign for re-election to Congress even though her own actions contributed to that defeat. In my opinion, it is likely bitterness and hatred against Trump that are the actual motives or reasons for their plan to vote for an extremely liberal Kamala Harris.

They betray their claimed conservative values since Donald Trump with all his faults is still clearly more conservative than Kamala Harris.

You know you are getting older if you remember pulling up to a gas station and hearing your parent say, "fill it up with Ethyl" and someone else pumped your gas for you and checked your oil. I remember those days when I pulled up to the gas station with my mother, though I was very young. :Biggrin The cheapest I remember gas being was .35 cents a gallon, which must have been the very early 70's.

I remember when unleaded was an option....and later I had to buy a lead additive because unleaded was the only option.

Who was in charge when the first Iraq War broke out? Who was in charge when the Afghanistan War broke out? Who was in charge when the second Iraq War broke out?

So there, Van. So there.

LOL, tomorrow is September 11, and you claim a Republican RINO who had been in office less than 9 months should not have responded? And HW threw the Iraq invasion force back into Iraq and then ended the conflict. But you are right, the Second Iraq war was caused by W, a RINO Republican, with a RINO,VP who has now endorsed Mrs. Harris.

I see the demonic ploy of claiming the Republicans are as bad or worse than the Democrats has once again been deployed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the wolf in sheep's clothing is the current Democrat Party, the party of mandates, show trials, Russian hoaxes? Was the Laptop really Russian disinformation? Who suggested it had all the earmarks?

No one is claiming there are not RINOs within the GOP, but the attacks on Mr. Trump are engineered by the Democrats.

Who told you Mr Biden was fit as a fiddle?

Ever take to heart the moral of the story about the "Boy who Cried Wolf?" Russian Collusion? Laptop Disinformation, The Border is Secure. The list is long, more that three falsehoods.

Watch the Debate tonight and see if the Democrat will say whatever polls well to continue the worst policies on the economy, on the border, on foreign policy, on the war on fossil fuel, and whatever the wackadoodle left teaches kids about gender, etc.
