I'm a Christian Constitutionalist who heeds the words of our first president, George Washington, who warned us about the dangers of putting any political party above the general interests of the country.

From the OP: "What are most Christians or does it matter where you live?"

Absolutely perfect description of a politically liberal Christian.

Especially this part:

"And because they choose to ignore what the Bible has to say about these things."

If you are wanting to know about those living downtown and why no one is helping them maybe you could ask also why they are not helping themselves.

Having been one of them and hung out with them I certainly know. Do you?

Many of them have mental illnesses that prevent their functioning at a level of self sufficiency.

I think we need to get back OT here. Perhaps a split in the thread would be best to discuss the plight of the poor.

The call from scripture to help others is not based on the merrit or condition of those in need. While many are on the the street because of there own doings, or not doings, it is not left to us to choose who deserves help and who doesn't.
While complacency is a major problem among many street people, there is still a dire need for Christians to reach out and love evan the worst of the worst.

They continue to hide in the sand as the elderly, the embryos, the soldiers, the office workers in the WTC are killed . . .

And they blame us because we vote against what God called SIN!

Get rid of sin on the platform, and then we can play politics . . .

But, :godisgood:

You are right it doesnt. But you can give them all the money in the world and tomorrow they will be right back there.

Nor are we required in scripture to take money from tax payers paychecks to suport those who care nothing about bettering themselves. And it is a false claim that there are many of those homeless that are mentally ill. The vast majority are not.

Throwing cash at people is a bad idea, but there is more to care than passing out checks, relationships can be built, more rehab centers, more shelters, housing for families and children etc etc etc.......it's not everyone's calling i know that, but the blatent indifference or resentment to those of a class lower than most is disgusting.

Where is it you find this "Blatent indifference or resentment"? What causes resentment is communist tactics to support these folks. Taking money out of our paychecks is a clear source of resentment.

Those who are blessed by the benefits of a society owe something back to help others less fortunate. Indifference and selfishness are not "True Christian" values.

Talk about a thread full of baloney. Why would any Christian in his or her right mind give one ounce of support to either party? They are both self-centered, power hungry, thieves, and liars. How can anyone in good conscience even equate either party with the first or second great commandment? When was the last time either party showed any interest in the welfare of the American people? What Christ like principles does either party exhibit?

As soon as there is a place where I can live and eat for free, without any questions, let me know. (I'm moving in) Please make sure the beds are nice. I would like my own private room. Oh, and if it's not too much to ask, please make sure I have satelite television in my room. And a computer, and a stereo, and a microwave, and....

If you don't like the way the two "official" parties are messing it up, you could vote llibertarian.

("But if you vote libertarian, a Republican might win!) WFTH-I
