Republicans Are Ignoring Positive Economic Signs at Their Own Peril

I understand why the Republicans will not admit the economy is getting better.

Thursday’s jobs report was unequivocally good news. The economy added 288,000 jobs in June, the labor force increased, and the unemployment rate dropped to 6.1 percent. Long-term unemployment continued to fall and wages grew at a 2 percent year-over-year rate. It’s not quite a jobs boom—monthly numbers can be noisy—but it’s a very positive sign.

Except, Republicans can’t quite seem to admit that the economy could be kicking into second gear. As Talking Points Memo Sahil Kapur noted on Twitter, House Speaker John Boehner’s statement on the jobs report says absolutely nothing about the jobs report. Instead, he criticizes President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats for failing to pass GOP legislation.

Or consider Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus’ statement. He at least touches on the positive report with his opening line, saying, “We’re glad to see some Americans found work last month.” He then spends 270 words ripping into the president for his supposed failed policies and imploring Americans to give Republicans a Senate majority in November.

The economy is not improving and the president's policies are utter, total and complete failures. See this post.

Again, liberals need to take off the rose-colored glasses, stop drinking the Kool-Aid, wave away the smoke and throw away their mirrors. The economy is not healthy, regardless of how many times that "Big Lie" is repeated.

This is another one we need to leave alone. It has no idea what will help Republicans win.

I am always amazed that a "liberal" is so concerned about the plight of conservatives.

Kinda reminds me of how gung-ho the libs were for McCain -- until he actually cinched the nomination!!!

My sense of smell has pretty well gone south, but even so I smell a rat here. :applause:

I don't know where in the world they got those numbers, but it's NOT better here in WV. Our state employees cannot get merit raises because there is a freeze. My husband has not had a merit increase for YEARS, although the price of groceries has doubled in that time, gas has gone up significantly, and our healthcare prices continue to rise. Our town just lost another small business that couldn't make it. Another larger business is closing down a certain facility and over 40 people will be without jobs soon as a result.

On top of that, thanks to Obama's stupid laws about coal, our electric company is now pushing for a 17% rate increase.

The left-leaning media can spew their lies all they want, but I'll believe what I SEE, not what practiced liars try to make me believe. What I SEE is SCARY.
