The thing is fascism was a European -ism, and in Europe right-wing means nationalist. In the US, the vast majority of both Dems and Reps were pretty patriotic/nationalist until very recently.

Liberals and even most of those who consider themselves Marxists are guilty of using the world fascist very loosely today. They fling it around as an epithet or political swearword against right-wing figures whom they particularly despise, or against reactionaries in general.

If you had any concern about this country and the country your kids and grandchildren will inherit you would be very concerned. Trump does not believe in our basic freedoms and would do away with them if possible.

No, socialism and fascism are not the same. A socialist would not necessarily approve of fascists actions and believing in a dictator. There is democratic socialism. There is no democratic fascism; that is an impossibility. Socialism is concerned with the welfare of everyone. You, I or anyone may or may not agree with the methods advocated by socialists to achieve their aim. Facsist are concerned about only one group, their group. Those who do not fit that mold are lessens and have no real rights.
Fascism is a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power,forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism,regimenting all industry, commerce and all aspects of life. This is very different from Socialism.
