Willow Creek pastor, elders tell church about inquiries into misconduct claims against preacher [LINK]

The alleged behavior includes “suggestive comments, extended hugs, an unwanted kiss, and invitations to hotel rooms. It also included an allegation of a prolonged consensual affair with a married woman who later said her claim about the affair was not true.”

“During a two-hour gathering that the church called a “family meeting,” Hybels alongside a current and former elder, walked members thorough three inquiries overseen by elders over the last four years, all of which cleared Hybels of misconduct.”

“The accusations you hear in the Tribune are just flat-out lies,” Hybels told the packed sanctuary.

Did the church and ministry organization respond appropriately to the charges against its leader?

Should a church or Christian organization seek outside council when one of its leaders (or workers) is charged with abuse?

Did they take appropriately actions to care for those who might have been have been impacted by abuse? ...or was their response driven by a desire to protect their ministry and its leader?
