Revelation 9 and Islam

Here are three quotes from something I recently read on the subject.

Revelation 9:1-2 The Fifth Trumpet, The First Woe: Many Christian expositors, including Martin Luther, the great Reformer; Sir Isaac Newton, the famous scientist; and the historian, Edward Gibbon; have seen in the fifth and sixth trumpets the rise and progress of Islam. In view of the tremendous military, religious, economic and cultural impact Islam has had on the Christian world in the nearly fourteen hundred years since its rise in the 600s, this interpretation deserves our serious attention.

It does seem that the fourth iron kingdom was in fact both the pre-Papal and the pre-Islamic undivided Pagan Roman Empire, as well as the later Western-Roman Papal and the contemporaneous Eastern-Roman Islamic Empire into which it then subdivided. Indeed, both “Mahomet” and “the Pope” – as we have already seen – Dr. Calvin called “the two horns of Antichrist.” Thus they correspond to the two legs of the later Roman Empire – Islam and the Papacy.

There are two great antichristian religious systems of deceit revealed in the book of Revelation. The “great western antichrist” of Roman Catholicism (Rev. 17 and 18) and the “great eastern antichrist” of Islam (Rev. 9). This has been the majority position of historic Protestant interpretation (Historicism) for centuries, though later writers often see this with more clarity.

What think ye? Does Revelation Chapter 9 reference Islam?

I don't think so because I think that Islam has too many scientific problems. People are born into Islam but they leave if given a chance. At the top of Islamic societies there is a sort of eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we may die lifestyle so the true believers are people on the lower levels of Islamic society. Western Europe and North America have tiptoed around Islam but Japan for example has refused to admit Muslim immigrants. Japan does not have domestic terrorism. Islam is like communism: it must be contained and allowed to fade away because it is just a brutal political system based upon fear and repression against their own believers. Mohammed was 54 when he married Alisha who was 9 and so we have grown men in Islam still marrying 9 year old girls as the central dictate of Islamic everyday life is to live as Mohammed did.

What think ye? Does Revelation Chapter 9 reference Islam?

9 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

Seems a stretch to me.

There is not a single religion currently carrying a high enough percentage for the Antichrist to use to dominate the earth. But, if this current movement of attempting to convince the earth that all monotheistict gods are the same god, just called by different names, succeeds, and are persuaded that they were allowed to worship blindly each religion's way. Until the Antichrist and false prophet arrive as their godsend to bring the earth into uniformity of worship. Uniting the monotheistict religions, would give the Antichrist, the popularity and dominance, coupled with his and the false prophet's supernatural powers to subdue any existing religions that are not monotheistict. The Catholic Church started pushing the monotheistict, all roads lead to God, theology back in the 1960s, when the pope said Jews, Muslims, Christians could all reach God in their own way. This pope, last week, announced that he did not want Catholics to any longer attempt to convert people from other religions, claiming that people, through admiring their faith, would come and inquire of them about converting.

Since speculation abounds in these "reading the tea leaves" interpretations of End Times, I do not put any stock in the assertions.
