Go ahead and defend the false teacher and you share in his evils...per 2 John.
Just because you do not agree with what others have discerned from the teachings of Rick Warren does not mean they are bearing false witness.

That said, enjoy the thread. I've been on that merry-go-round enough to know that no progress is made in the discussion.

Now you are questioning his salvation? Wow. I'll defend against false attacks by trolls when there is nothing to attack.

I disagree that gossip is not bearing false witness. Those participating on this thread with the sole purpose of attacking something he might say based on past alleged "false teachings" is bearing false witness at its worst. You do well to back out....and you are right nothing comes from these threads. There are too many logs in the eyes of those starting them and gleefully joining in.

FYI if the video didn't air, how did I get it? Please look at Oprah's website there are several RW videos in her Lifeclass.

I made no such accusation. You, brother, are the one making false accusations. You are assuming that people here speak against Rick Warren based on sound bites and no close inspection of what he is teaching. That is unfair and unwise. You need to realize that people, upon prayerfully and careful examination of what he has been teaching, saying, and doing, have arrived at a different conclusion than you. This has led you to offend, by false accusation and misrepresenting of people and of their posts, brothers and sisters here on BB. I urge you take a deep breath and prayerfully consider my words here. My hope is for your best personally and for the fellowship here on BB.

I watched the video twice. Once at the beginning of the thread, and then later. I'm not a big fan of Rick Warren, but I failed to see what he said wrong on Oprah's show. What was incorrect?

I get the impression that the main criticism here is not what he said, but what he didn't say. He didn't preach.

I'm a retired television journalist. Over four decades, I did thousands of interviews. Only in a handful did my guest bring up the subject of religion, Jesus, Christianity--and then because it was germane to the subject under discussion.

In the clip, Warren was responding to a specific question about self-image. I didn't hear the question, and I don't know what else he was asked on that program, and I don't know what his answers were. I think there's a rush to judgment here--and I don't think we have enough information to make it.

That's EXACTLY what he is doing. It sickens me again that any pastor would get on her show and play these little games. She's not gonna allow him the platform to say or promote anything that she doesn't believe.

So as long as he's giving Joel Osteen style feel-good advice, she'll have him on there again and again and again.

There is NOW WAY I would agree to do a show like that without being given the opportunity to share the Gospel.

But he will from here on out be associated with Oprah and her false teachings by many who look at him.
You do not have the moral authority to pass judgement on anyone that breathes.

For someone who is billed as "America's Pastor", and one who is ordained and licensed as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he spends an incredible amount of time not talking about Jesus.

An example? Several years ago he had a prime time slot during the Christmas season. Instead of a clear Gospel message addressing the sin problem Jesus was presented as a cure to our loneliness.

His teaching is right their with Oprah's and Joel Osteen's.

So why don't you just call Webdog a heretic? Why use implied phrases? You have no justification, no evidence, no reason, to say the things about Rick Warren you have. And you certainly do not have the right to use phrases like "defend a false teacher" about someone else's opinion.

Webdog and I disagree on some things theologically, but one thing he does not do, is prematurely rip a fellow Christian to shreds without evidence or justification. So what were you doing during all those theological and seminary classes, sleeping or playing on Facebook?

He has personally ignored your emails? You know he ignores every email as a fact?

Well you can't blame him, as no one likes to answer critics. Being a multi millionaire, he has someone to answer them for him, so yes, in my mind that is ignoring. To be fair, I probably would do the same thing. Look, the man is a multi millionaire, so he doesn't care what I think. I was just showing you how ludicrous it is to say that if someone has a problem, they should confront him. As if that will ever happen. Personally, I am appalled by all the "preachers" that are getting rich in this day and time. They are all suspect in my mind.

You all know, I really find many on this board to be knee-jerk reactionists. All I do is post a video clip that was easily found online. I say nothing about false teaching or heresy. All I do is say this is where he belongs, on Oprah. Then out come the critics slamming me for posting this. Is Rick Warren off limits, even when posting the truth about him?

Nothing, and I Mean NOTHING....

I am often worried by any pastor that sits down with Oprah. Her show was a bunch of New Age nonsense and PDL touches on some of that new age stuff. Help him Lord. Oprah might eat him alive and have him announcing her as queen of the world.

....suprises when it comes to RW, JO, BH, KH and all the other high profile, media seeking preachers.

If the Lord opened the door for me to appear on Oprah, she'd have to edit the show, because I'd be in her face, spiritually speaking, and sharing the Gospel like she'd only hear at tent revival. Of course, I'd also have my handy poclet recorder and when the time came, click on the song, "Just As I Am!" :) :)

....you'd think you'd get the message by now....RW is one of those sacred cows. Of course if it was Joel, Hagen, Hinn, or some other noted preacher, there's be tons of agreement.

SolaSaint - you need to repent and quit judging this brother, before :tonofbricks:

You do a lot of jumping to conclusions. The only one ripping other posters to shreds is you two.

What do the following three people,
Rick Warren
Bill Clinton &
Barack Obama
have in common among other things?

They are either greatly admired or bitterly despised. No one is lukewarm.

....I hope you know I was only jesting with you. I know you have real concerns about RW, and you have every right to have those concerns.

Someone told you that if you have concerns with another, you should go to them in person.....well that should apply to anyone on the BB who has problems with others, like let's say, Obama. Maybe some on this board should take their own advice

Of course, I didn't see you tearing RW apart or ripping him up in this OP. You were merely suggesting that maybe RW has found his niche, talk show guest and possibly a host of the RW Show!

I always felt that RW was good on television, as I felt he did a great job when he hosted the presidential debate with McCain and Obama. I really think RW may have been given another direction in ministry: Christian Talk Show Host! I'd watch it. :type:
