But Republicans should have higher standards than the D's
In addition - with the election about 42 days away - would the senate
have sufficient time to confirm a candidate
Then Republicans will lose if they want to posture 'higher standards'. The Democrats will cut their throat. Remember the so called 'nuclear method' of voting for a justice. It was first used by Democrats to force their will. Then the Republicans used it.
You can't play by the rules if the other side doesn't. The stakes are too high.
I don't know if the Senate would have time. But I would go for it if I were them. Nominate and call for a vote.

Cruz is a re-electable republican senator though. Taking him away from that, I wonder who would become a senator, hopefully not from the other side.I agree that the rules have changed forever to dog eat dog. Biden is trying to steal the election with mail-in ballots. It is no telling whom Biden would nominate. Trump should nominate Cruz because he would be easy to confirm.

Whereas, there are many conservative judges Trump can choose from.
I certainly hope Trump can get a conservative in there soon. I wonder if this opening will motivate the right to get out the vote for Trump. I think most people have expected Ginsburg to die seeing all her severe cancer issues, and advanced age, but not like before the election this soon, even though she had been sick for a long time. Imagine if Biden suddenly died before the election.Cruz is saying the court must have a new judge because the election will be contested according to Hillary and the current court is divided 4-4.
And the dems are looking to steal the election....so we should give up the reason why some voted for Trump to begin with? 30% of the SC over time have been installed in an election year. The dems are using this to further threaten us with civil unrest. Just another excuse to bring more fear to citizens for control. RBG’s last statement before death was political, not wanting her seat to be replaced by Trump. So if she is political in death, seize the day & replace her. It may be our last chance to retard the drive to one world order. But Republicans should have higher standards than the D's

Four years ago, Justice Antonin Scalia passed away in Feb. 2016
This vacancy arose during Obama's final year as president, and shortly after Scalia's death was announced, Republican Senate leaders declared that because Scalia's seat had become vacant during an election year, the Senate would not even consider a nomination from the president. Senate Democrats criticized the move as being unprecedented and responded saying that there was sufficient time to vote on a nominee before the election

Thus to be consistent - Trump should wait until after the election to nominate - assuming he wins re-election
I agree....but this is a tough one.PLEASE ABIDE BY THE 30 DAY RULE
No. He shouldnt. There is nothing consistent about DC. After the empeachment fiasco, (snipped) Phooey with the evil Democrats. (bold replacement by admin)Four years ago, Justice Antonin Scalia passed away in Feb. 2016

It sure is.I agree....but this is a tough one.
The dems did not fill it because they were not in control, they were not in control because of Obama’s miserable performance. They would have, if they could have. Not a good reason to not do it now. The way they have treated Trump? No time for Mr. Nice Guy. He/we owe them less than nothing.
.
I immediately thought that was a very odd thing to say. Supposedly, her grand daughter made this claim. Just odd, imo....... I don't believe she ever said “My most fervent wish Is that I not be replaced until a new President is installed” - who talks that way on her deathbed?.....
