RNC Votes to Withdraw From Presidential Debate Commission

The Republican National Committee announced on Thursday that it had voted unanimously to withdraw from the Commission on Presidential Debates, a supposedly nonpartisan group that organizes presidential and vice presidential debates before general elections. The independent claims of the CPD, however, came under renewed scrutiny after the way it handled the 2020 cycle debates and brushed off concerns about timing and procedures raised by the Trump campaign and RNC.

One rule I don't like is that participants are not allowed to be in any other debate.

Also, I would like to see one debate where the participates can ask each other question.

And finally, one rule I would like to see is that (in a 90 minute debate with 2 opponents) is that each candidate
is allowed to speak 35 minutes (not counting intro and outo). If a candidate wants to spend 10 minutes on one subject - thats his business. but when his time runs out - his mike is turned off - and may not be able to the last few questions!

I don't like the fact that the candidate can't decide for themselves if they want to decide by signing a dumb pledge. Candidates should have more freedom. After all, it is them we are voting on, not the RNC>

That commission, if I understand correctly, is tax payer funded. It has always been an attempt by the two parties to limit exposure of any other parties candidates. I hope it is dissolved.

Let private organization organize, promote and run the debates. I’d like to see about 10 debates, with many candidates at the beginning, then narrow it by polling status (only non-biased polls), until the final 3 or 4 before the election.

peace to you

See this is what happens folks. When the left loses control they talk like this.
No, I "talk like this" because it is true. Since the election of Trump in 2016, Republicans are much less likely to engage with voters in town hall meetings or in any forum that is not biased toward their Party. Many do not want to face questions or engage with competing ideas.

It means one of two things: (1) They don't believe their ideas/actions can stand scrutiny; and/or (2) they are cowards.

Your constant need to paint me as a "liberal" or part of "the left" shows that you can't engage in the discussion of ideas without labeling someone you disagree with. As you wrote recently, "If they can place a label on you then they can make you a boogy man and an enemy." That's a nice summation of the way you operate.

What is the source for your claim repubs are “much less likely” to engage with voters or in unbiased forums?

I don”t doubt you, I just don’t think this is particular to repubs in general or after Trump was elected in particular.

Both parties attempt to control the venue and audience. The difference after Trump’s election is the media sponsors of events don’t even attempt to be unbiased and have actually written articles to the effect they have a responsibility to be biased against Trump/repubs and for dems.

Nothing about this post is true. It does however describe lefties. Twitter, youtube and the like are all examples of not wanting to engage other ideas.

Further its a description of the ideology you espouse. Your ungodly left wing ideology is evil and making up these false descriptions like you just did is bearing false witness.

well, to me, the name calling started with "coward".

no big surprise here, this was inevitable. I mean, this debate commission had Chuck Todd moderating the Younkin debate, and take a look at the last three that was scheduled for the presidential last year:

moderators-2-640x480.jpg

Chris Wallace, some neverTrumper who lied about his account being hacked, and a red diaper baby that is, frankly, a liar:

https://nlpc.org/2020/08/11/nbc-asked-to-correct-fake-account-of-trump-reaction-to-shooting/

One of the reporters, Kristen Welker, White House Correspondent for NBC News asked the following question at the 6:57 minute mark of the press conference:

Q. Kristen Welker: “Are you rattled at all by this Mr. President?”
A. President Trump: “I don’t know, do I seem rattled”?

Shortly after the press conference, Ms. Welker appeared on MSNBC to report about the shooting incident and said: “I asked the President if he was rattled by all of this, he said “of course,” but he also expressed his gratitude to the Secret Service.” Anyone watching President Trump’s calm and subdued demeanor would conclude that he was not rattled by shooting as Ms. Welker falsely led MSNBC viewers to believe. “Sadly, this is yet another shameful example of fake news by the major media that goes uncorrected. Both NBC and Kristen Welker owe an apology and a correction to the viewers and her fellow White House correspondents for blatantly putting words in the President’s mouth to fit her narrative of an easily rattled President,” said Peter Flaherty, Chairman of NLPC.

and the debate commission kept trying to change the rules in stream, anything to help Biden. Bias, alright.

3) they are tired of the liberal media putting words in their mouths which are not true and the building up of straw men. Ding ding ding
