Van,
I agree that if isolated from other sections of God's word that tell us where faith actually comes from ( John 6:29, Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 2:16, Galatians 2:20, Galatians 3:22, Philippians 1:29, Hebrews 12:2 ) the basis of the blessings and forgiveness of God do indeed appear to be the direct result of the believer's faith...

Therefore, if our faith is the basis for those blessings, then it can be said that the believer's faith is what earns them their standing with God.
Am I mistaken with this evaluation?
Did I say "direct result?" Nope I said the blessings resulted from God crediting our faith as righteousness.

God's word goes on to tell us that our faith as believers in Christ is the evidence of His work in us ( Hebrews 11:1, the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen ), and that it was given to us in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but to suffer for His sake ( Philippians 1:29 ).
Yes faith comes from believing God exists and believing God keeps His promises. And provided God allows a person to believe (i.e. does not harden his heart as in Romans 11) most people are granted the opportunity to through the call of the gospel.

Yes, He does Van, and I praise Him for reminding us as believers that were it not for His mercy and grace to us as sinners, we would not even have the faith with which to place our trust in Him.
We would still be His enemies in our hearts and in our minds ( Romans 5:10, Colossians 1:21-22 )...
Agreed, God credits our faith, as worthless as a filthy rag, as righteousness. This fact precludes the fiction of Calvinism's "gift of faith."

For truly, the fruit of the Spirit is faith ( Galatians 5:22-23 ), and without it, there would be no belief on Christ and there would not be the privilege of coming to Him for our every need.
Here we have the usual effort to say the fruit of the Spirit which is the result of indwelling) came before God credited our faith as righteousness. Absolutely ludicrous.

Amen Van.
God does indeed credit the believer's faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross for them as righteousness in His eyes.

Question:
SNIP
May God bless you, sir.

Why would God credits our faith as righteousness, if it was God's faith instilled in us by irresistible grace? Answer, the gift of faith via irresistible grace is a fiction precluded by scripture.

Yet another copy and paste long post of non-germane deflection.
Note the regurgitatior denied Romans 4:23-24, with nonsense about His faith and ignorance of our faith.

The Biblical Doctrine of Faith is a Twin Doctrine.

A. Faith is always Accompanied by God-wrought Repentance.

B. Repentance and Faith are Twin Doctrines, which are never separate.

C. "Faith" without Repentance does not exist as a Bible Teaching or Doctrine.

D. "Faith" without Repentance may be identified as a Primary Action.

E. A Primary Action involves an individual "having Faith" and depending on "Faith" as a solitary activity.

F. SAVING "Faith" never exists without Repentance and there are two ways to determine when "Faith" is spoken of, in a way that is not SAVING Faith.

F.1). A person claims "Faith" as a solitary action and has not experienced Repentance.

F.2). A person claims "Faith", with nonsense about his faith and ignorance of our faith, and is oblivious to the necessity for "Faith" to have an OBJECT.

For a person to claim "Faith", with nonsense about his faith and ignorance of our faith, that is oblivious to the necessity for "Faith" to have an OBJECT, is not SAVING "Faith".

Non-Repentance =

Romans: 4:5 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

Repentance by THE UNGODLY & Faith IN Jesus Christ's Death, Burial, and Resurrection,
with Jesus Dying THE JUST for THE UNJUST =

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly,

Jesus Christ's Righteousness Accomplished by Jesus' Virgin Birth, Perfect Life,
& Jesus Christ's Death, Burial, and Resurrection,
as THE OBJECT of ABRAHAM'S FAITH, IMPUTED to ABRAHAM=

his faith is counted for righteousness.

Jesus Christ's Righteousness as THE OBJECT of ABRAHAM'S FAITH, IMPUTED to ABRAHAM =

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness apart from {without} works,

Salvation through The Savior, Jesus Christ =

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Non-Repentant UNGODLINESS NOT IMPUTED to Abraham who's REPENTANCE of his UNGODLINESS and FAITH WAS IN THE SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST =

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

...

Lost souls do not believe in Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

Lost souls believe they Must Be PATTED ON THE BACK, by God,

if they are Wizardly Smart enough to not want to go to Hell.

Their Boast of Heaven includes God Worshipping them and Never them Worshipping God.

They have a claim with no substance, object, or value.

They even say so.

Yet another long non-germane copy and paste post. And was the question answered? Nope

Why would God credit our faith as righteousness, if it was God's faith instilled in us by irresistible grace? Answer, the gift of faith via irresistible grace is a fiction precluded by scripture.

Why would God not accept the faith of soil #2 and soil #3 (Matthew 13) is their faith was the instilled gift of faith?

Calvinism is precluded by scripture and repeated long copy and paste posts of non-germane assertions cannot hide that truth.

"Faith" has an Object.

Twaddle. Note the continued effort to our faith in Christ does not refer to our faith and devotion toward Christ? On and on folks, on and on.

"Faith" has an Object and is not a singular product.

Just as "anger" is a secondary emotion.

No one is just, "angry".

There has to be a primary emotion, first, that is the cause of the anger, second.

No one just has "faith".

...

And, Biblically, PRIOR TO anyone having "faith", SPIRITUALLY,
there is ALWAYS, "REPENTANCE", first.

And PRIOR TO The TWIN DOCTRINES of REPENTANCE & FAITH,
is ALWAYS "CONVICTION of SIN".

ALWAYS. WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

...

A preacher is Called, and Preaches THE WORD of GOD, that The Holy Spirit either USES or DOES NOT USE to Convict of sin AND GRANT REPENTANCE & FAITH.

The sinner that is lost and is CONVICTED, Must be Enabled by The Holy Spirit to AGREE WITH GOD'S PERSPECTIVE of THE INABILITY, IMPOTENCE, DEATH, WORMNESS, with NO STRENGTH.

THAT is What the lost soul IS GIVEN REPENTANCE TOWARD. THEIR SIN.

JESUS CHRIST IS THE OBJECT TO WHICH THE HOLY SPIRIT POINTS THE LOST SOUL, by The Message of The Gospel.

The lost soul that is ENLIGHTENED by EXPOSURE to The Word of God and God's children participating in Spiritual Ordinances and Prayer, etc. THAT IS NOT CONVICTED by THE HOLY SPIRIT of their GUILT of Eternal Sin and Transgressions AGAINST THE ETERNAL GOD, are simply LEFT CONDEMNED.

They are alienated from The Commonwealth of Israel.

That lost soul remains going to hell and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: Ephesians 2:12, as EVERYONE WOULD, IF IT WERE NOT FOR GOD'S ETERNAL PLAN of ELECTION.

After CONVICTION THROUGH THE PREACHING OF THE MESSAGE OF JESUS DYING FOR SIN and BECAUSE OF SIN, The Holy Spirit Grants REPENTANCE TOWARD GOD'S CONDEMNATION of their sin and FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST'S DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESSURECTION, as The Power of Life over Death.

The soul that God Saves is Given Eternal Life and Saved, by The Saviour.

"Faith" is not a toy or ticket, that one possesses.

Faith always has an Object.

The disappointment you experience from knowing you are guessing now includes the assumptions of my writing being copied and pasted.

God Credited The Object of Abraham's Faith, as the passage states.

The Object of Abraham's Faith was to Believe in The Lord Jesus Christ.

Abraham WAS GIVEN Justification, as a TOTALLY DEPRAVED, ungodly, impotent, dead sinner, in trespasses and sins, as the passage states.

As The OBJECT of ABRAHAM'S FAITH that God Gave Abraham, as a Gift, Jesus Christ Had Fulfilled His Work of Eternal Salvation, by Being Virgin Born, Living a Perfect Life under The Universal Moral Law of God and then, DYING, BECAUSE GOD HATES SIN AND THE UNGODLY SINS OF ABRAHAM WERE PLACED ONTO JESUS.

Jesus Died, Was Buried, and Rose Again as The Fulfillment of God's Agreed Plan of Eternal Salvation for His Elected children and that RIGHTEOUSNESS of JESUS CHRIST was IMPUTED to ABRAHAM, as the passage says.

The Imputed Righteousness of Jesus Christ was Imputed to Abraham, Based on THE PERFECT WORK of JESUS CHRIST, in THE ETERNAL SALVATION of The Elect of God that Abraham WAS GIVEN BELIEF IN and FAITH TOWARD...

AS THE OBJECT AND SUBSTANCE AND FOUNDATION of Abraham's Faith....AFTER:

Abraham was Justified, as the passage states

AND

Abraham was ungodly, thus the "T" of the TULIP, as the passage states.

Your mileage may vary.

Your mileage may vary, Infinitely.

It depends on whether you remain dependant upon being disappointed with guessing that
THE OBJECT AND SUBSTANCE AND FOUNDATION AND BASIS of Abraham's Faith that Abraham was Given as a Gift, was not The Savior, Jesus Christ.

Does Romans 4:4-5 say God credited Abraham's faith or God's instilled faith? Abraham's faith.

Pay no attention to these long non-germane posts claiming Abraham's faith was not credited as righteousness, and that our faith is likewise credited, Romans 4:23-24.

Is the issue that Abraham was ungodly? Nope so a strawman deflection.

In summary, the sum and substance of this thread is that God credits the faith of believers as righteousness, therefore the "T" of the TULIP is bogus.

God is Allowed to Write Words in The Bible and Explain His Position.

God's Servants, who are Called to Teach His Word, are Allowed to be Given an Understanding of the various Words, in sentences, God Uses to Describe What He Has to Reveal to mankind.

God Says What He Means and Means What He Says.

When someone has rules which involve not knowing, or deliberately ignoring, what God Says, they WILL NOT KNOW, or care to understand WHAT GOD MEANS.

That's easy.

From John Gill: who discusses how a Saved child of God, in their persons and services, are Acceptable to God; compared to those who ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE to GOD.

by Showing ABRAHAM had a reward reckoned, CREDITED, AND COUNTED to him, and accounted his, which was God himself,

"I am thy shield, and exceeding, great reward", ( Genesis 15:1 );

Those who have not been Given God remain dead.

Romans 4:4

Now to him that worketh

The apostle illustrates the former case by two sorts of persons in this and the next verse, who have different things accounted to them, and in a different manner.

The one is represented as working, the other not.

By the worker is meant, not one that works from, and upon principles of grace.

The regenerate man is disposed to work for God;

...the man that has the Spirit of God is capable of working;

...he that has the grace of Christ, and strength from him, can work well;

...he that believes in Christ, works in a right way;

...he that loves Christ, works freely, and from a right principle;

...and he that has Christ's glory in view, works to a right end: but the worker here, is one that works upon nature's principles, and with selfish views;

...one that works in the strength of nature, trusting to, and glorying in what he does;

... seeking righteousness by his work, and working for eternal life and salvation.

Now let it be supposed, that such a worker not only thinks he does, but if it could be, really does all the works of the law, yields a perfect obedience to it;

...what is the reward that is, and will be reckoned to him?

There is no reward due to the creature's work, though ever so perfect, arising front any desert or dignity in itself: there may be a reward by promise and compact;

God may promise a reward to encourage to obedience, as he does in the law, which is not eternal life;

...for that is the free gift of God, and is only brought to light in the Gospel;

...and though heaven is called a reward, yet not of man's obedience, but Christ's;

...but admitting heaven itself to be the reward promised to the worker, in what manner must that be reckoned to him?

not of grace:

...for grace and works can never agree together;

for if the reward is reckoned for the man's works, then it is not of grace,
"otherwise work is no more work", ( Romans 11:6 );

and if it is of grace, then not for his works,
"otherwise grace is no more grace", ( Romans 11:6 );

...it remains therefore, that if it is reckoned for his works, it must be of debt:
...it must be his due, as wages are to an hireling.

Now this was not Abraham's case, which must have been, had he been justified by works;

...he had a reward reckoned to him, and accounted his, which was God himself,

"I am thy shield, and exceeding, great reward", ( Genesis 15:1 );

....which must be reckoned to him, not of debt, but of grace;

....wherefore it follows, that he was justified, not by works, but by the grace of God imputed to him;

....that which his faith believed in for righteousness.

The distinction of a reward of grace, and of debt, was known to the Jews;

...a the one they called (orp) , the other (rkv) : the former F4 they say is (lwmgh) , "a benefit",

...which is freely of grace bestowed on an undeserving person, or one he is not obliged to;

....the other is what is given, (Nydb) , "of debt", in strict justice.

FOOTNOTES:

F4 Maimon. Bartenora & Yom Tob in Pirke Abot, c. 1. sect. 3.

...

Romans 4:5

But to him that worketh not.

Not that the believer does not work at all, but not from such principles, and with such views as the other; he does not work in order to obtain life and salvation;

....he does not seek for justification by his doings:

but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly:

...or that ungodly one: particular reference is had to Abraham, who in his state of unregeneracy was an ungodly person;

...as all God's elect are in a state of nature, and are such when God justifies them, being without a righteousness of their own;

...wherefore he imputes the righteousness of another, even that of his own Son, unto them: and though he justifies the ungodly, he does not justify their ungodliness, but them from it;

...nor will he, nor does he leave them to live and die in it;

...now to him that worketh not, that is perfect righteousness;

...or has no opportunity of working at all;

...or what he does, he does not do, that he might be justified by it;

... but exercises faith on God as justifying persons, who, like himself, are sinners, ungodly and destitute of a righteousness:

his faith is counted for righteousness;
not the act, but the object of it; which was Abraham's case, and therefore was not justified by works. The Vulgate Latin version here adds, "according to the purpose of the grace of God".

Romans 4:6

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man,

&c.] the apostle having instanced in Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation, cites some passages from David, king of Israel, a person of great note and esteem among the Jews, in favor of the doctrine he is establishing;

who in a very proper and lively manner describes the happiness of such persons:

unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.

This righteousness cannot be the righteousness of the law, or man's obedience to it;

... for that is a righteousness with works, is a man's own, and not imputed;

... and indeed is not a righteousness in the sight of God: nor does man's blessedness lie in, or come by it; no man is, or can be instilled by it, nor saved by it, or attain to heaven and eternal happiness by the means of it;

...but the righteousness here spoken of is the righteousness of Christ, called the righteousness of God; and is better than that of angels or men;

...is complete and perfect; by which the law is honoured, and justice is satisfied.

This is freely bestowed, and graciously "imputed" by God.

Just in the same way his righteousness becomes ours, as Adam's sin did, which is by imputation;

...or in the same way that our sins became Christ's, his righteousness becomes ours;

...and as we have no righteousness of our own when God justifies us, this must be done by the righteousness of another; and that can be done no other way by the righteousness of another, than by imputing it to us: and which is done "without works";

...not without the works of Christ, of which this righteousness consists;

... but without the works of the creature, or any consideration of them, which are utterly excluded from justification;

... for if these came into account, it would not be of grace, and boasting would not be removed.

Now such who have this righteousness thus imputed to them, are happy persons;

... they are justified from all sin, and freed from all condemnation;

...their persons and services are acceptable to God;

... it will be always well with them; they are heirs of glory, and shall enjoy it.

Abraham "exercises faith on God as justifying persons, who, like himself, are sinners, ungodly and destitute of righteousness: (= the "T" of the TULIP)

"his faith is counted for righteousness;
not the act, but the Object of it." (= Jesus' Perfect Life Given in Death, Burial, and Resurrection)

Abraham was unrighteous (= the "T" of the TULIP)
and required the Object of his Faith
that was Given to him AS THE GIFT OF GOD, of course,
for
"his faith is counted for righteousness".

It is, as if, God is Saying that, "Jesus is The Saviour".

And that, "sinners are sinners"
(= the "T" of the TULIP)

Jesus Saves FROM SIN
(= the "T" of the TULIP).

A sinner
(= the "T" of the TULIP) must see themselves as lost (= the "T" of the TULIP)
before they can become Saved.

Abraham was ungodly,
(= the "T" of the TULIP), saw himself so, (= the "T" of the TULIP)
and God Saved Him through the Finished Work of Jesus Christ's Death, Burial, and Resurrection.

In summary, the sum and substance of this thread is that God ENABLED
Abraham TO TAKE HIS PLACE AS AN ungodly SINNER, (= the "T" of the TULIP), & seeing himself so, (= the "T" of the TULIP)
God Saved Him through the Finished Work of Jesus Christ's Death, Burial, and Resurrection.

Yet another copy and paste boatload of verbiage, making the false claim God "enabled" Abraham"s faith in God and His promises. Not a scintilla of evidence for the obviously false claim. If Abraham had no spiritual ability, Abraham could not have put his faith in God and His promises. So either believe scripture, or trust in the bogus rewrite. Notice Romans 4:5 does not say Abraham's enabled faith, but simply "his faith." And again, if that faith had been instilled, God would not have credited it as righteousness. Calvinism relies on absurd assertions found nowhere in scripture.

First Sir, why do you say it is my position, rather than the Biblical Position stated in Romans 4:4-5 and Romans 4:23-24.?
Calvinists have tried to redefine being spiritually "dead" as meaning having "total spiritual inability." But they are reading that into the text. Matthew 23:13 teaches "spiritually dead" people were in the process of "entering the kingdom" therefore being unsaved does not preclude seeking God or trusting fully in Christ.

Therefore it is the Calvinist position that is unbiblical and makes no biblical sense.

Second, scripture does not say "God applauds as righteous" people whose faith He credits as righteousness. God credits or reckons their "faith" as righteousness to them. Recall that unless a person has been born anew as a new creation created for good works, all their works of righteousness (including their faith) is as filthy rags to God.

All Arminianism/ Free willism is Extra-Biblical.

God Does Not Worship human beings any more than He Gave Calvin Doctrines to write.

The Doctrines are there, for Eternity, and must be thrown out, wholesale, with the rest of the Bible and new Extra-Biblical heresy written that is non-Biblical and Anti-Christ.

The entire Body of Divine and Practical Doctrine that GIVES GLORY to The Son of God, for Rescuing the perishing, since the fall of Adam MUST BE ABANDONED and replaced with, "God Worships individuals".

That is NOT in the Bible.

18 "even though God had said to him, “Through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.”

19 "Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and in a sense, he did receive Isaac back from death".

Those in Matthew 23 were simply prevented from entering in the area of influence, by those Saved Individuals Preaching The Death, Burial, and Ressurection of Jesus Christ.

The lost can not SEE The Kingdom of Heaven, which is The Power of God Operating in the children of His Kingdom.

Those who were not permitted to enter in under their influence was all the passage says.

Salvation, such as Abrahams, involves Jesus, as The Savior.

or The Glory Jesus Gives God The Father, by Delivering The Kingdom to Him...

AND GOD DOES NOT WORSHIP THEM.

The prospect that Armenians DO NOT PLACE THEIR SOUL UNDER THE CONSIDERATION of GOD'S ETERNAL WORDS
is DEMONIC.

They are alienated from even 'thinking about' Honoring God, with their sin-cursed reasoning.

They are proud, boast, and brag and accuse others of saying they wrongfully are said to be proud, boast, and brag.

I believe it is God Who is Eternally Offended by their rebellion, abomination, heresy, and pride, boasting, and sinful braging.

If they would only do one thing, they would done.

If they would STOP BRAGGING ABOUT THEIR IGNORANCE.

The Spirit of God is a Component of Biblical Theology and NOT ARMENIANISM> It's not there.
