It seems to me that on both sides of the Presidential debate, there are numerous threads of issues that are not helpful in deciding who should lead our nation for the next four years. We have very high unemployment, looming inflation, high energy prices tied to the Middle East, immigration issues, deficts out of control, a Congress that will not govern, the threat of terrorism, an unstable Middle East, Iran, and North Korea, bankrupt Social Security and Medicare, tax policy, and numerous other issues that affect our lives.
We should be comparing Obama's record as President with former Governor Romney's record in MA, and make an informed decision. These are the cards we have been dealt. I do not think Romney's trip to Britain, Romney's resignation date at Bain, Obama's birth certificate (although I do believe it to be a fraud), or his gaff around the Queen of England (who cares about the Queen of England) is the basis of an informed decision.

I guess Romney won't be getting the Great Britain vote this November. However, this may win him more U.S. votes, considering how many here feel about the British.

btw, IMO, our government is not yet a marxist regime (and may never be) but a kind of neo-socialist regime (or wants to be very bady).

Our version allows capitalism as long as the government has control over business and gets a big piece of the profit pie whilst also putting the serfs into economic bondage via taxation and cradle to grave dependency on the government.

Actually 2 of his speeches and inaugural photos were part of long list of content including Broadway clips and footage of the Queen's US visit in 2007.
But, then again, I thought this was a thread about Romney's gaffe. not Obama's.

Anyone who would believe the statement that the "British reaction" (acc. British media) could ever have been described as one of "openness"....is delusional already.....There was never a sense of "openness". The article has already demonstrated its uselessness.

Our leaders on either side should show respect to the leaders of any country they travel to. However, there is nothing special about British royalty or the Queen. They are due no more respect than the leader of the Ivory Coast. If something irks the royal family, frankly, who cares? They are not royal in this country. As mentioned before, just another group of people to write about to keep the Hollywood movie magazines in business.
Romney has achieved a rare feat: to unite the British political spectrum against him; in case you think this is just a case of liberal media bias, the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph are not exactly leftist publications...it certainly doesn't bode well for the Special Relationship if he is elected...

That he didn't think London was up to holding the Olympics. Not exactly the way to win friends and influence people.
He never actually said London wasn't up to it, he said there were concerns. He said the athletes were great, the volunteers were great but wondered about security and the mind-set of the typical British citizen towards the games.

Yes, in a way that has quite surprised me. A lot of that I think is down to the opening ceremony which celebrated the quirky nature of Britishness although I fear a lot of the references would have been lost on non-Brits.
