Romney's Economic Plan Will Cost Americans Jobs

Well, he was the outsourcing king, why should it change if he became president.

We have not found any serious economic study that says Governor Romney's economic plan would actually create jobs – until today. I've got to be honest. Today we found out there's a new study out by nonpartisan economists that says Governor Romney's economic plan would, in fact, create 800,000 jobs.

There's only one problem. The jobs wouldn't be in America.

They would not be in America. They would be in other countries. By eliminating taxes on corporation's foreign income, Governor Romney's plan would actually encourage companies to shift more of their operations to foreign tax havens, creating 800,000 jobs in those other countries.

Now, this shouldn't be a surprise because Governor Romney's experience has been investing in what were called pioneers of the business of outsourcing. Now he wants to give more tax breaks to companies that are shipping jobs overseas.

3.32pm: President Obama was in Cincinnati today – and he followed up his campaign's attacks on Mitt Romney as an outsourcer with another fairly brutal one:

So Crabtownboy leaves out the identity of the lying motor mouth who is analyzing Romney's plan! That is dishonest to say the least!

CBS News is no friend of Romney and Conservatives but the following article shows that someone on this forum is lying about Romney outsourcing jobs. Even if he did it was private money, not taxpayer money as is the truth with Obama.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-57472228/what-was-romneys-role-at-bain-during-outsourcing/

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - It's getting nasty in the presidential campaign with each side accusing the other of lying about Mitt Romney's role at Bain Capital, and Romney demanding an apology. With jobs the number-one issue in the election, the Obama campaign says that Romney was running the private equity firm at a time when it was investing in companies that were sending American jobs overseas. Romney insists he'd already left Bain at the time in question. Here is a look at his role at the firm.

When Mitt Romney was CEO of Bain Capital in the 1990s, Bain invested in a series of companies -- including call centers and manufacturers -- that expanded overseas, sometimes at the expense of American workers.

After those investments were first reported in The Washington Post, the Obama campaign pounced. "Mitt Romney's companies were pioneers in outsourcing U.S. jobs to low-wage countries," according to an Obama ad.

When the Obama campaign then charged that Romney, as a Bain manager, personally shipped jobs overseas, the Romney campaign denied that saying it never happened. Outsourcing is now a crucial issue for Romney, who's running on a platform of American jobs.

"It's because I love jobs," Romney told a crowd in Cincinnati back in June, "I want more jobs for the American people."

Romney says he retired and left Bain Capital in February of 1999 to run the Salt Lake City Olympics, which means he never had control of the companies doing the outsourcing.

Romney: Obama owes me an apology

Watch CBS News correspondent Jan Crawford's interview with Mitt Romney, who responds to the criticisms about his role at Bain:

However, in the years Romney describes himself as on leave from Bain, here's how Bain was describing him in reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission: sole shareholder, sole director, chief executive officer, president, and even managing director -- of a firm he says he wasn't managing.

The Obama campaign suggested that Romney might have been lying to the SEC, but several experts told us not so.

"Putting that information on that form does not necessarily mean that you're an active manager of the company," said Tom Sporkin, a former SEC investigator and enforcement attorney. He acknowledged that that it was entirely possible Romney owned the company but didn't run the company.

"He could have been on a leave of absence," said Sporkin.

Romney would have made money if the companies doing that outsourcing sold at a profit. But the SEC documents don't prove that Romney ran Bain after 1999 or that he personally shipped jobs overseas.

Obama was simply speaking of a new report released by a nonpartisan group

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's tax plan could cost 800,000 U.S. jobs, according to a new report released Monday.

http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-mon...rt-romneys-tax-plan-could-cost-800000-us-jobs

The analysis shows that Romney's plan would permanently exempt corporate profits made overseas from U.S. taxes and encourage businesses to keep their money stashed in offshore tax havens, leading to a shedding of U.S.-based jobs.

Obama Creates Jobs Overseas With Taxpayer Money

Despite President Barack Obama's campaign team accusing his GOP opponent, Mitt Romney, of outsourcing jobs and money, in a transaction that would have angered American taxpayers -- if the news media ever bothered to tell them -- the People's Republic of China receives millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to help with their so-called green projects thanks to a generous President Obama, according to a political strategist who spoke with the Law Enforcement Examiner on Saturday.

The outrageous part of the story is that the U.S. is indebted to China for almost a trillion dollars, according to a Washington, D.C. watchdog group that investigates government corruption.

"The Obama Environmental Protection Agency administrator, Lisa Jackson, who launched an enormously expensive program to make America’s minority communities green, has sent millions of taxpayer dollars to environmental causes in nations overseas, including China, Russia and India," said Michael S. Baker, an attorney and political strategist.

"Obama and his news media cohorts tell Americans that Romney outsourced money overseas. At least it was his own money or his company's stockholders' money. Meanwhile Obama and his minions outsource our money on a regular basis," notes Baker.

Obama's $1,000,000,000,000 Joke!

Obama was simply speaking of a new report released by a nonpartisan group

Sure he was CTB, sure he was. But you didn't say that did you. You mislead everyone. Furthermore, who says the "nonpartsan" group is not funded by George Soros. It is all about lying liars and the lies they tell and Obama is the liar in chief!

The liar in chief told us that if he could blow a trillion dollars on shovel ready jobs the unemployment rate would be ~ 6% now. Later he "joked" that there were no shovel ready jobs. Big joke, $1,000,000,000,000 borrowed from where, China for one!

I think the real problem here is that Obama's policies are going to cause businesses to look at becoming "other than American"; because the price of being a business in America will continue to be a large overhead cost for American businesses. The whole structure of Obama's policies relies on increasing the number of governmental jobs.

These articles are all about accounting gimmicks whereby corporate profits are said to originate in other countries. I didn't see one fact pointing to jobs being shifted overseas. If all a corporation has to do to get the deferred tax rates in foreign countries is to open an office and a bank account in that country, why would jobs necessarily follow? One of the articles cited Bermuda as a tax friendly haven for laundering corporate profits. Does anyone believe that Bermuda has a workforce suitable for American corporations to shift jobs there?

Furthermore by lowering the overall U.S. corporate tax rate and closing loopholes, as Romney has proposed, it makes the accounting gymnastics of moving money through foreign countries a lot less necessary than if corporate rates remained as they are (2nd highest in the world.)

CTB, did you forget about GE? Jeffrey Immelt was actually a "guest" at the State of the Union address, wasn't he? Did you know that Obama appointed him to be a "jobs czar" to create jobs in the US even though GE was the recipient of tax dollars (guaranteed loans and part of the green energy funding all with tax dollars, mind you) and yet GE has outsourced jobs to at least 43 countries globally and employs over 300,000 people with less than half of those employed in the US. And GE paid ZERO taxes to the US in 2010. Remember?

At least Romney's outsourcing was done with private money and not tax dollars!

Did you forget about the waste of our tax dollars for belly up companies like Solyndra?

Come on, now, I could do the research and find many, many other examples where obama has outsourced jobs - how many jobs have been created in Kenya with our tax dollars since obama took office?

The BIG DIFFERENCE? Romney's outsourcing was done with private funds. Obama's outsourcing was done with OUR TAX DOLLARS!

And let's not feign being appalled. All of this outsourcing and job loss in America has been created by BOTH PARTIES - starting with NAFTA. The job loss in the US is another one of those "unintended consequences" that nobody in any administration or Congress cares about just as long as they pad their own portfolios.....

Yesterday, Speaker Boehner took President Obama to task for recent reports that taxpayer-funded ‘stimulus’ dollars were outsourced to foreign firms and workers, saying “the president owes every American an explanation” as to why their money was shipped overseas while millions remain out of work here at home. Here are just a few examples of the Obama administration’s ‘stimulus’ outsourcing for which the American people – particularly the nearly 13 million unemployed - deserve answers:

* After receiving a $500 million stimulus loan guarantee, Fisker Automotive is producing their $100,000 luxury electric sports car in Finland. (“Car Company Gets U.S. Loan, Builds Cars in Finland,” ABC News, 10/20/11)

* Nearly Half of President Obama’s $2.4 billion devoted to advanced vehicle batteries went to foreign companies in places like Russia, China, South Korea and France. (“Obama Sends Stimulus Aid to Foreign Firms,” Washington Times, 8/6/09)

* Sempra Energy was awarded a $337-million loan guarantee to supply panels for a solar power plant in Arizona. However, the company purchased its solar panels from the Chinese solar giant Suntech. (“Sempra Gets $337 Million Guarantee for Arizona Solar Project,” Bloomberg News, 9/28/11)

* Two South Korean companies – LG Chem and Dow Kokam -- were given $303 million to produce car batteries in the U.S., but then brought in foreign workers. Local unions have criticized the company for filling jobs with foreign workers. (“Unions Say Foreign Workers Taking Stimulus Jobs,” CBS News, 4/13/12)

* “An April 2010 study by the Energy Department found that 60 percent of the 40 largest wind farms then financed by the stimulus relied on foreign manufacturers for their central components, including turbines.” (“Obama’s Record on Outsourcing Draws Criticism from the Left,” The Washington Post, 7/9/12)

* California-based Tezo Systems lost its bid for a ‘stimulus’-funded grant to install television monitors on California buses to a New Zealand company. (“Santa Clarita Rejects Protest, New Zealand Company Keeps Stimulus Contract,” NBC4 Los Angeles, 5/16/12)

* A federal investigation found that “at least $7 million in federal stimulus money intended to provide jobs to unemployed Oregonians instead paid wages to 254 foreign workers.” (“Federal Stimulus Money for Oregon Jobs Hired Foreign Workers,” The Oregonian, 10/20/12)

Credit and Change....

More than you would give him credit for creating.

....Obama has brought us change [forced it down half of our throats], and the credit part is the main problem, as he continues to us the Bank of China VISA card to the point that our children's children will be paying off the interest when they go to their graves. Yes! I'll say he has had something to do with both credit and change: Both are bad!

The question should have been a little more specific.

Shoulda asked "How many jobs EXCLUDING gov't jobs.

Granted, if pure job creation is all you care about, then yes, the ZERO has created quite a few - but jobs that are parasitic, not producing!!! (My first thought is the upmpty-thousand ADDITIONAL IRS agents in his most famous death-care bill.)

For me personally the "campaign" has turned into an exchange of insults regardless of the truth.

Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z.

Wake me in November so I can hold my nose and vote for Romney (and return to clinging to my guns and bibles).

Than tell me how many his policies have created and how many have his policies destroyed and give me the difference.

Because you seem to have this notion like Obama to say that "I created 10 jobs but please nobody talk about the 100 I destroyed in order to get that 10."

We need the philosophy of George Washington (G.W.) McLintock [John Wayne], who, in addressing a young man who wanted to be given a job:

"Son, you've got it all wrong-- I don't 'give jobs;' I hire men!"
