Ron Clark: 'Where are the white people at? Don't be silent'

A post from a local educator on recent high-profile fatal police shootings is spreading across social media.

In the post, Ron Clark, co-founder of the Ron Clark Academy, says, "I see racism through a different view; I'm a white man who watches my students as they are treated with caution, disdain and misunderstanding."

Clark goes on the implore white people to "be leaders in this movement to end the racism and misunderstandings."

"If only African-Americans speak, I promise you, people only hear the "angry black people who are being ridiculous," he writes. "It takes white people to have the courage to speak up when you hear racism and let others know it's not acceptable."

Clark made the post on his personal page just before 4 p.m. In less than four hours, it was liked more than 17,000 times and shared more than 13,000 times.

Ron Clark said:
My heart breaks when I think how the beautiful and strong students I work with are basically one bullet away from becoming a ‪#‎hashtag‬.

I see racism through a different view; I'm a white man who watches my students as they are treated with caution, disdain and misunderstanding. Views of who they are are formed instantly by their appearance, and brilliant young children are often frowned upon as being thugs. I tell my students to say yes sir and to smile when dealing with the police and that everything will be okay, but I am losing faith in my own advice.

I can tell you all, white privilege is real because I experience it both in noticing how I am treated and how those who don't look like me are mistreated. When only white people are in the room some people feel comfortable to make horrible and stupid comments, and the biggest problem is that they aren't even aware of their ignorance. We, as white people, have to be leaders in this movement to end the racism and misunderstandings. If only African-Americans speak, I promise you, people only hear the "angry black people who are being ridiculous." It takes white people to have the courage to speak up when you hear racism and let others know it's not acceptable. The cops out there who are racist have had their thoughts fed into them by family members and friends who were also raised to have those thoughts. People aren't born racist; their community makes them racist. We, as part of the community, have a duty to stand up and speak out. We all must stand against ignorance and let our voices and options be heard before those we love become ‪#‎hashtags‬ as well.

Posts like this by African Americans are seen in the eyes of many as angry rants. Posts like this from white people will be looked at differently. It is our obligation to stand up.

Where are the white people at?
Don't be silent.

Why would they? They didn't shoot anyone and it's irresponsible to suggest that they did. You're moving into the Al Sharpton/Sean Hannity-ish keep em stirred up area now.

I see racism through a different view; I'm a white man who watches my [black] students as they are treated with caution, disdain and misunderstanding.

Are blacks nothing but wdogs? Why can't the Left find any fault in blacks?

High crime rate. Low academic performance. Majority of babies out of wedlock. Etc. all caused by undetectable white racism?

Why doesn't the Left, especially black teachers and leaders, lay down the moral law with blacks? Where's the black teacher to say "I'm a black man who watches my [black] students act with aggression, disdain, and misunderstanding"?

From the OP link:

Ron Clark, co-founder of the Ron Clark Academy, says, "I see racism through a different view; I'm a white man who watches my students as they are treated with caution, disdain and misunderstanding."

Well, duh, Ron, stop treating your students that way.

Yes, where is Ron seeing his students treated wrongly? It's all the more puzzling given that he owns the school. Is he hiring racists and tolerating racism in his staff? Practically all the students are black, so is it black students treating other blacks with racism? No whites are allowed, yet it's the blacks who are victims of racism?

Ron runs a school for blacks. So, he doesn't have any freedom to speak honestly, doubly so because he's white. If he said he's trying to clean the ghetto out his students, his school would instantly implode.

Look at Ron, mocking blacks by acting like a monkey right in front of them. And, where's the diversity in the mural?

You sound more and more foolish with each comment. Nobody has said nothing about Blacks not having faults. But when you get police murdering one unarmed black person after another after another after another, sane empathetic people recognize that something needs to be done.

Don't have time to deal with this type of ignorant foolishness tonight. Perhaps Blacks will take responsibility for those things when white people start taking responsibility for their privilege.

Why doesn't the Left, especially black teachers and leaders, lay down the moral law with blacks?

Why doesn't the Radical Right and lily white leaders son the right lay it down for these racist and racially prejudiced police officers? Could it be that the folks on the right don't have a problem with the racism and racial prejudice? Does explain why some of you are okay with DOnald Trump.

Where's the black teacher to say "I'm a black man who watches my [black] students act with aggression, disdain, and misunderstanding"?

Where's the white teacher or the white police chief who says I watch my police officers act with disdain and with little regard for the life of black and brown people?

Nobody has said nothing about Blacks not having faults.

Then what are the faults of the black community? And, who's addressing those faults?

But when you get police murdering one unarmed black person after another after another after another, sane empathetic people recognize that something needs to be done.

In 2016, police have killed 238 whites and 123 blacks. Do you have evidence (your racial prejudice doesn't count) that police are targeting blacks? A few unarmed blacks have been killed. A few unarmed whites have been killed.

Don't have time to deal with this type of ignorant foolishness tonight.

If you don't have the truth, you can still cling to racist self-righteousness.

I still haven't seen evidence of racially prejudice cops in any shootings of blacks. You have got to stop confusing your racial prejudice with evidence. We have a government that is jonesing to find racism behind these cops, and nothing.

Where's the white teacher or the white police chief who says I watch my police officers act with disdain and with little regard for the life of black and brown people?

Whites have a whole different culture. Whites don't defend whites who are guilty of racism or crimes.

Black culture is defined by crime, illegitimate children, low academic performance, government checks, and defense of black criminals and racists.

Something needs to be done with your race-baiting ways Z-man.
Perhaps Blacks will take responsibility for those things when white people start taking responsibility for their privilege.
Many blacks have the victim mentality. As far as their unreasonable logic takes them white racism is responsible for all the ills of the black race. And that is patent nonsense.

Why doesn't the Radical Right and lily white leaders son the right lay it down for these racist and racially prejudiced police officers?
You are so much into racism you can't see straight.
Could it be that the folks on the right don't have a problem with the racism and racial prejudice?
What I see is a tremendous amount of black racism directed toward whites and Asians on a daily basis. Sure blacks kill and injure their own in numbers that are grievous. However, the killings and assaults upon whites and Asians in America by black thugs is way out of proportion to the percentage of blacks in America.
Does explain why some of you are okay with DOnald[sic] Trump.
The racism charge against Trump just will not stand under a fair examination of the facts.
Donald Trump has a rather big following in the "Blacks For Trump" movement. Interviews with black employees would shut your false narrative down alone.

It makes me wonder if you've ever marched with BLM.

Irrelevant to the topic at hand. But why don't you go ask the black community who is doing this since you've got an interest. I'll tell you that contrary to the Fox News talking point that these things are not being addressed in black communities, they are.

Do the numbers you present mean that they aren't? Or are we just supposed to believe because of your blatant bigotry that's what they mean? And I just marvel at the flippancy at which you deal with human life. But God knows you'll scream at the top of your lungs about how pro-life you are.:Rolleyes

I knew that as foolish as your comments were getting, I was gonna have to pull this out:

Dumb, da dumb, da dumb. That's all you've been doing. That's all a lot of white folks on the radical right do with the police. That's all a lot of white folks on this board do with police.

So like I said, don't confuse your bigotry with a lack of proof.
Black culture is defined by crime, illegitimate children, low academic performance, government checks, and defense of black criminals and racists.

And we have a winner here folks. Look at how this so called follower of Jesus Christ stereotypes and colors an entire group of people by his own racial prejudice and bigotry. Yet he probably goes to church every Sunday and sings out the side of his neck that he loves Jesus.:Rolleyes

Just disgusting. But that's getting to be pretty regular out of Mr. Smyth.

Who was unarmed? All the dead black men in the news these past few weeks had guns. None of them cooperated with police. The got shot. They caused their own deaths. You misrepresent the facts. And, Zaac, you bear false witness, out of your racial prejudice, against the police, accusing them of racism without one idiota of evidence.

Zaac, over 2000 (overwhelmingly black) people have been killed in just Chicago alone, so far this year. But, what gets you fired up is an armed and uncooperative thug getting himself shot by police, something that accounts for a very minuscule fraction of all blacks that die at the hands of another. That's some seriously twisted thinking on your part. I don't think black lives matter to you.

I have posted very sparingly in the last three months or so. Therefore, you are fibbing.

The truth gets under your skin, doesn't it Zaac? My comments were factual. And that frustrates you.

But the one thing I was uncertain about was put in the form of a question. Have you ever marched with BLM?

How is that fibbing? When you sparingly post, it's incredibly silly.

You've spoken your silly version of the truth.

Have you ever marched with the KKK or run around with a sheet on your head?

Look at you just making stuff up.
The got shot. They caused their own deaths. You misrepresent the facts.

It's clear that you wouldn't know a fact if it bit ya.

And, Zaac, you bear false witness, out of your racial prejudice, against the police, accusing them of racism without one idiota of evidence.
[emoji57] Coming from someone who exhibits signs of racial prejudice, bigotry, and racism, that doesn't mean much.

I'm sorry. I sugar-coated it. You lied.
When you sparingly post, it's incredibly silly.
And I suppose, based on your unsound logic that when I post a lot it's incredibly insightful.
You've spoken your silly version of the truth.
There is no such thing as a silly version of the truth. Truth is simply truth.
Have you ever marched with the KKK or run around with a sheet on your head?
No, I certainly have not. So I presume you are acknowledging that BLM and the KKK are kissing cousins. Both are evil. But BLM, in just two years, has topped anything that the KKK has done in the last 60 years.
Now answer the question that I have posed for you several times now: Have you ever marched with BLM?

Try telling it sometime.

Spoken like a truly desperate Fox News despite.

It's amazing that as completely unorganized and unfocused as they are, that little group has caused the big bad radical right do much angst [emoji38]

I must say you guys are exists at trying to demonize anything and anyone you feel like is a threat. You did our with Obama. You're now trying to do it with Hillary. You've tried to do it with BLM.

It's hilarious to watch. And y'all think everyone is too stupid to notice the pattern[emoji38] .

Now answer the question that I have posed for you several times now: Have you ever marched with BLM?

[emoji33] Yikes. I must have allowed you to confuse me with a child. You don't give me orders.

So get on back to your GOP Klan rallies. Back to ignore.

It's crazy Hank. And it is a brand of pure wickedness. I keep asking myself why do these folks keep doing this when they KNOW what the response will be? It's sad because they are willing to put people's lives at stake over ratings and money.[emoji107]
