Rookie officer shot and killed in Kentucky late Sunday

The shooter has just been apprehended.

My prayers go to the family of this officer, as well as all those in blue shot and killed during this war on police. And those who protest cops shooting suspects wonder why cops are quick to pull the trigger? The job is mentally hard, and worse now because every shooting can become a career changer, leading to criminal charges for a wrongful action.

The war on cops is shameful and disgusting, and things will become worse before they get better.

Is there a war on cops? That is my question, and how do we stop it?

This shooting has affected a lot of people in my area, and not because it isn't too far away from where I live.

I there are a couple of people that I know personally who are either full time police or sheriff's deputies. When "one of their own" is shot and killed, to them it's about the same as if their brothers or sisters are killed because to them, they are part of a kind of family--"brothers and sisters, who that, while they may have never known them personally, still to them they are "family."

You see, only those that personally have to put on their badge each morning and face "the world out there, knowing full well that this could be the last day that they may ever see their spouses or their children alive" can really identify with them because in one sense these men and women in blue, regardless of where they live or serve the public, are "family."

My thoughts go out to these people because they "serve and protect" the people who, in some cases have no respect for the people who are many times the only ones willing to go into these crime-ridden neighborhoods to try to capture the criminals that haunt these places.

Yes, I do know that there are a few so-called "bad cops" in our country--who usually are the only ones that the media broadcast anything about the local law enforcement officials.

After the TV networks almost daily feature these "bad cops," it's easy to see why,to some people at least, tend to get the impression that these "bad cops" typify the entire law enforcement personnel in America; thus, they show little or no respect for them.

Knowing all of this, these dedicated "ministers of God" as Romans 13:4 puts it, who are often over-worked but under-paid and under-appreciated by many people deserve our respect.

I think there are a few, not to name names, on this board who would say exactly that. When a cop shoots a suspect, especially if he or she is black and the cop is white, then the cop must have had a hidden, underlying agenda of the racist kind, and they are automatically bad!

Like you brother, I happen to know many who are in law enforcement. In fact in my career, I worked with law enforcement on a daily basis, and in all those years, I never met one that had an evil persona or thought.

For several years, I led worship for a Los Angeles chapter of Cops-4-Christ, and again, they were men and women of honor! Over a ten year period, I regularly ministered in music and spoken word to numerous C4C chapters throughout Southern California, and again, outstanding men and women!

They have families, and like anyone else, when they go to work they really plan to come home at the end of their shift. I understand quite well, their concerns, and the need to always be ready to defend their life as well as the life of the general citizen who may be caught in the line of fire!

I am fed up with the negative, because it is way over the top, and it is the true version of the Salem witch hunt being replayed in our day and age, only this time it is against the men and women who swore to protect and serve us, the general public! raying:

Plus, and this is highly important when considering this question of white cops shooting black folks. Does anyone of you think for one minute that these guys got up, bathed, dressed, arrived for roll call, got into their car and had it in their mind-set to search out a black man and shoot him dead?

That is as offensive and absurd as those, who we all know, continue to use damaging rhetoric and nothing but adjectives to make their point, while purposely avoiding "verbs" in how they would go about fixing the problem! All they want to do is rant and rave, and play the race card! :type:

There are some bad cops sure. Personally I have not known any. I believe there are still far more good than bad.

Also maybe this "war" against black men is just a "war" on crime. There is a reason there are so many black men in jail and it is not just because of cops targeting them unfairly. They are in jail because they committed the crimes.

Blame family or whatever, the fact still remains that they committed crime.

I did not see a lot of white people looting and burning in Ferguson and Baltimore. Nor do I see a lot of white people marching in the street and calling for the killing of cops. #blacklivesmatter.
