House Republicans voted early Sunday morning in favor of a temporary spending bill that includes a one-year delay for ObamaCare, a move that increases the chance of a government shutdown with Senate Democrats and the White House vowing to reject the measure ahead of a Monday night deadline.
The Republican-led House passed the proposal 231-192 in one of two amendments attached to a Senate spending bill passed Friday night.
The lower chamber also passed an amendment 248-174 to repeal the health-care law’s medical-device tax and voted 423-0 to approve a bill to pay the military on time should a temporary shutdown occur, in a series of votes that started shortly before midnight. The final tallies came in after midnight, and the House adjourned until 10 a.m. Monday shortly after.
I hope the GOP stands strong on this and doesn't cave to "the sky is falling" mentality that the Democrats will hope to generate if the government actually does shut down Monday at midnight. I initially thought "That would be a disaster," but I've "rethunk" and decided the disaster would be letting this socialist nonsense become entrenched, wrapping its evil tendrils around every aspect of the economy where they can never be excised. Despite the overwhelming BS that will come out of the left, both politically and in the media, the truth is, the Democrats know the Great Pretender/Empty Suit has saddled us with an unworkable program, and delaying it a year wouldn't hurt a thing.
The communists disguised as socialists and liberals will scream bloody murder that the country can't let a shutdown happen. But the truth is, Social Security checks will already have been mailed on September 30, and there isn't a single function of the U.S. government we would truly miss for a few days. Provisions have been made for the military to be paid regardless. Despite the absurd propaganda that we will hear once a shutdown occurs, eventually the American people will see that nothing will have been hurt by a shutdown of a few days that will (hoping against hope) convince the arrogant empty heads of the left that they have to kill this stupid socialist nightmare, or at least delay it to iron out the "kinks" -- and calling them kinks is like calling the Himalayas "nice little hills."
