RULE#1 For anything to be Officially Christian it must be found in the scriptures.

What a beautiful and wonderful teaching. The word of God is TRUTH. The scripture is perfect. Whatever scripture says is right.

We must not go beyond what is written 1 Corinthians 4

We must not ADD to the word of God.

SHOW US the bible verse that teaches RULE#1.

Feed it dog food. --->SHOW US the bible verse that teaches RULE#1.

They call it biblical, lets see it be biblical then.
So, if you feed it dog food, that makes it a dog?
That would explain the Roman Catholic Church and why you think it is Christian...

All a person can do is grind their teeth and twiddle their thumbs.......sure the heck ain't going to cough up a bible verse being that teaching isn't biblical.

This challenge is the BANE of Protestantism. Because if you have no proof of RULE#1 For anything to be Officially Christian it must be found in the scriptures, then you cant CONTROL other people.

You cannot make YOUR SAY the FINAL SAY concerning things Christian.

Folks will swear to GOD up and down the bible teaches it.......

Beware the Christian who has a mind of his own. He is going to ask WHERE is the verse?

The problem here is you are demanding the Bible fit your requirement and if not, that means your traditions are validated. However, that is a fallacious thought.

What we read is this:

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Scripture functions in this capacity. What we don't read is that "tradition" functions in this capacity.

However, the Roman Catholic Church often places the Bible as being secondary to the traditions it has created. It then tries to link a prooftext to a tradition, outside of context, to justify it's biblically faulty tradition.

The ultimate question to answer in this thread is:
What has ultimate authority over the Child of God? Is it the Bible or is it Tradition?

Based upon 2Timothy 3:16-17, I say that the Bible always has authority over tradition, 100% of the time.

Now...show us where the Bible calls Mary a perpetual virgin. [emoji849]

Jesus quoted and used just the OT scriptures, and we now have also the inspired NT, good enough for Him, not for you?

"However, the Roman Catholic Church often places the Bible as being secondary to the traditions it has created."
The BIBLE is a TRADITION.

One of these verse is TRUE the other is just a false teaching that is not taught in scripture.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and IS teaching, and IS reproof, and IS correction, and IS for training in righteousness, and is REQUIRED SO that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

The training of righteousness is the tradition. Anyone who finished high school probably understand the difference between PROFITABLE and REQUIRED.

1 Timothy 1
5But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

"Now...show us where the Bible calls Mary a perpetual virgin."
On what grounds of what rule? You have failed to prove your false rule to be binding on anyone. Its like letting the air out of a balloon, you have nothing over anyone.

How do you claim RULE#1 For anything to be Officially Christian it must be found in the scriptures, when this rule itself is unbiblical and not taught in scriptures?

Its like claiming the SUN is a huge LEMON, look how yellow and round it is. how dare you deny it is ROUND and YELLOW!

It doesn't matter how sanctimonious you get. We agree the bible is true, perfect and God given. Emphasizing those things won't make a false teaching true.

Why not just give a verse that ACTUALLY teaches RULE#1 For anything to be Officially Christian it must be found in the scriptures?

I suggest maybe grabbing someone who actually speaks and can read the English language to explain to you why none of the verses you cite means rule#1.

Its perfect which is why we should not add fake teachings like RULE#1 For anything to be Officially Christian it must be found in the scriptures.

Deja vu much?

You claim a strawman, you slay a strawman. Can anyone find quotes on the internet and post in this thread all the times this rule is mentioned and by whom? Google, and all the search engines may be helpful. I have yet to see, Christians claim any other source outside of the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth that the Bible is the final authority. Is the Holy Spirit only found in the Bible, or an external source? Is the Holy Spirit the same person as The Word? When it comes to faith and practice between man's word and God’s, it is only Scripture. But it is the office of the Holy Spirit to guide us in that truth, not just the Bible itself.

The question next is: "Can the Holy Spirit work without a Bible ever being read?" I would say it depends on how much a human needs to be convinced.

Unwittingly the words from the Bible can sometimes be "universal" phrases, that no human can get out of their head, once there. The proof would be to figure out one person who has had part of God’s Word never in their heart and minds. Good luck with finding that in your search to find a verse in the Bible. Hint: reading the Bible looking for that elusive verse may take less time. Perhaps find a couple of people who have never read it, to see if any of it sounds familiar, to speed up the process. Oops that would ruin the experiment.

Strawman? Fine I can accept that.

So to be clear RULE#1 For anything to be Officially Christian it must be found in the scriptures, is not a rule and unbiblical correct?

I take it you think the second version of 2 Timothy 3:16 is the correct version.

You assert that the Bible is a tradition. Yet, the Bible is the word of God.

Prove your assertion about the Bible and how you justify placing it below your churches catechism and man-made traditions. I would like to see your support for your assertions.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

John 1:1-5,14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

2 Peter 1:19-21 And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Your assertion about the Bible is false, utilyan, which is why your church teachings are illegitimate when they contradict the Bible.

Church of Rome same boat as Sda, mormons,JW are in, as they elevate traditions and extra non biblical revelations to be equal to the Bible!

Words doesn't mean ONLY WRITINGS.

"John 1:1-5,14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. "
"the Word was God."

You worship the bible?

I don't know whats the conflict here.

All you have to do is provide scripture that teaches--> RULE#1 For anything to be Officially Christian it must be found in the scriptures.

You have no bible verse ie. You are saying the teaching is unbiblical.
