Rush Limbaugh has died

Rush Limbaugh’s wife just announced on the radio that he has died from lung cancer.

He had a profound influence on the way I looked at politics and the media.

A great void for conservative thought.

I think I heard him refer to “our Lord Jesus” on occasion, but he didn’t spend a lot of time on religion.

He was a fierce opponent of abortion. I remember he used to do “caller abortions”.

He encouraged liberals to call in to his show and just as they were making their point, he would hang up on them. Then, when others called in to complain, he would tell them he was “aborting” their voice.

It was very funny

sure, but I was just saying that he did not think it a big deal about his smoking, which actually cost him his life!

One of the funniest things I heard him do was to play his show from the day before backward to check for subliminal messages.

You heard a bunch of garbled sounds then, “Ronald Reagan is the greatest” and then “vote for republicans”. I was laughing so hard.

Then people called in who thought he was serious, accusing him of mind control and such things.

I’m going to miss the show.

I can remember, sometime in the 1980's my colleagues on break talking about Mr. Limbaugh, and how salient and funny he was. So I gave him a listen, and sure enough, his views seemed to match mine, or more accurately perhaps my views matched his. I thought he carried on quite well after he became deaf, with perhaps a little drop in his humorous asides. He certainly spoke of God enough to help rather than hinder Christ's ministry.

This is not true. Last year one on of his shows he came out and directly said he knows that he will be in Heaven because he has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and trusted Him for his salvation.

Depending on what it was about, some would consider being condemned by the UMC a great honor!

Hope that it is true that he trusted in Jesus for his personal Saviour
