they didn't. It is elleged by those who have a stake in undermining Trump that they did but wikileaks says the info they received was an DNC insider not Russia.
I don't know the details. This is why we need the investigation.
The story that broke this weekend said that Russian government hackers gave WikiLeaks the Clinton DNC emails. They distributed these emails, starting at about the beginning of the DNC convention and kept up a constant drip, drip, drip of leaks as the election wore on. This was enough for many, many Democrats, especially Bernie Sanders democrats, to give up on Hillary and stay home and not vote.
It helped that the FBI said just before the election that they might have more emails that could possibly indict Hillary Clinton. It's highly likely that people conflated the stories about Clinton's private emails with the WikiLeaks emails and just decided not to vote for her.
Throw in the CIA reports that the Russians also had hacked the Republican National Committee but declined to release these emails and you have the appearance of the Russians choosing sides on the side of Donald Trump.
Yes those people have absolutely no interest in undermining Trump.
You did read the Trump team's response to the CIA report? Not a denial to be found in there. Just insults and deflections.

Anyway, you asked for sources, I gave them.
Has everything to do with Trump. If Hillary would have won we would not even be having this discussion. Those so called sources would not be pushing for any of this. And it is impossible that Russia or any country could tamper with our election. We could however investigate Hillary's connections to other countries that gave to her campaign if we are so worried about the integrity of the election.

That is why we need an investigation. If we had clear and compelling evidence we would not need an investigation.

because there is no known means that they could accomplish this. This whole thing boils down to the DNC hacked emails. they are accusing Russia so that everyones attention is off of the fact of what was in those emails and to undermine Trump. Period.

Perhaps he wants to prevent Trump from taking office. If they find evidence that Russia somehow was responsible for one vote being changed from Hillary to Trump, Obama --fearing a riot by the people and viewing it as an attack on the U.S. by Russia-- could invoke Executive Order 13603 and remain President until marital law is removed. Which would probably be in 2021.

You say,"They are accusing Russia". Who is accusing Russia? The CIA is accusing Russia. After Benghazi, the CIA is not going to lift a finger to help Hillary Clinton by undermining Trump. The Dems are just latching onto the CIA claims.
Besides, the election is over. There is no compelling political reason to draw attention away from Clinton's emails. Furthermore, you are conflating the Clinton emails from her private server with the WikiLeaks DNC emails. Precisely what the Russians were trying to accomplish. And you are vigorously defending Trump. Looks like their strategy worked.

It aimed to address Trump's flip-flops on abortion, his fake embracing of evangelicals, his ignorance of scripture, his bragging of grabbing women's private parts, his condoning of same-sex bathrooms, his position of not trying to overturn same-sex marriage if elected, etc. etc. Basically, Trump could do or say things that no Christian would stand for in a candidate, but because he was Not Named Clinton, people put up with it.
