Since when have the russians done anything succesfully? Yeah, they'll try to veer it off path and probably be into a direct collision with earth. Whereas if they left it alone it wouldn't hit us.

The wikipedia article is pretty good. The probability of a direct hit is pretty low, but higher than we have seen in a while.
