Same as an airport would be a bit much, I think.

My son's high school has only two entrances to enter and exit. They are guarded by police for a half hour before school starts and a half hour after school starts. These are double doors, that is, two doors with a ten foot space in between the doors. After the police leave the doors are locked to outsiders.

There are cameras covering the inside, outside, and space between these doors. Lockers are subject to searches at any time, for any reason.

Yes, all schools need minimal entrances/exits. The shooters need to be stopped BEFORE they enter and I would add metal detectors. Security needs to be beefed up with volunteer retired cops or military with added training for the particular environment specific to schools. I have heard some good suggestions from security people as to deal with the problem and to my mind it can effectively be dealt with.

Putting more gunmen out there to cut down gun crime is as crazy as it gets.

So why did Britain flood the streets with cops toting automatic weapons and with snipers during the wedding? If having guns are immaterial, why bother with all that stuff?

As for street crime, all I can say is that in Florida where I live the miscreants know full well that that any citizen could be carrying a weapon and I think that indeed has an effect on crime overall. The only thing your gun ban does is leave good people unable to defend themselves from the lowlife's and as with everything there is a tradeoff. You have your way as we have our way, and I much prefer our way.

As for crime in Britain here is what is happening according to the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee in a report I recently read. They are showing that the number of crimes in the year to March 2018 revealed the murder rate surged 44 per cent in 2017/18 to 157, compared with 109 in the previous 12 months".

Violent robberies and home burglaries were up by about a third in the period, and youth killings rose by 30 per cent from 26 in 2016/17 to 34 in 2017/18.

There were sharp increases in the number of rapes (18 per cent), knife crime offences (21 per cent), and shootings (23 per cent) from the previous year’s data'.

Shootings? Now tell me friend, how can there be any shootings at all in gun free England? Sort of puts to bed the idea that extreme gun controls will prevent the use of guns by criminals.

And you say Britain is somehow doing the right things in fighting crime? Haaaaaaaaaaa! Funny, very funny.
