Sandra Bland Family Seeking Independent Autopsy of Woman Found Dead in Texas Jail

HEMPSTEAD, Texas —The family of a Chicago-area woman found dead in a Texas jail cell last week is ordering an independent autopsy, their lawyer says.

Attorney Cannon Lambert says Sandra Bland's family expects autopsy results within 48 to 72 hours, ABC News reported Sunday. Lambert did not return a phone call from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Authorities say Bland hanged herself with a plastic bag three days after being pulled over by police for a traffic violation and then arrested for allegedly kicking an officer during the stop. Friends and family have questioned that account.

The 28-year-old black woman's death at the Waller County jail, about 60 miles northwest of Houston, comes amid increased national scrutiny of police after a series of high-profile cases in which blacks have been killed by officers.

It is good that they are seeking an autopsy if they have concerns. Suicide is always a difficult thing to process, especially since many people who commit suicide do not give any indication to their families that they are susceptible.

Moreover, the turmoil of being arrested in ending up in a county jail could be the trigger point for a person who is already depressed or bipolar.

Its a sad situation all the way around. From the video surveillance of the county jail, the officers who discovered the woman's body and rushed to help her were rather upset.

Not really much of a story. Inmates commit suicide all the time.

The source is just desperately looking for some race bait.

Carry on.

The "independent" autopsy will just confirm previous findings.

Your right. Consider the source and mindset of the OP. Nothing but trade b baiting fodder.

Not much of a story?

Another example of the agendas around here on display.

The dash cam video is extremely indicting on the officer. He escalated the situation and illegally removed Sandra Bland from her vehicle. He proceeded to act against department protocol (according to the state department) and ultimately presented a false report of the situation.

There is some strong language and I'm not suggesting the Bland was appropriate in her behavior, but she didn't act illegally once stopped.

This does matter because it goes to a pattern of escalations and improper conduct towards African Americans by police departments in this country.

Well, it's off topic, but if you want to go there, we can.

Even if everything you said is the absolute truth, there is not a scintilla of evidence that she was murdered. And that is the race bait they are looking for. You know, "black lives matter" and all that tripe.

But the details of her arrest wasn't the subject of this thread. Unless you believe that was why she committed suicide.

Do you?

Or have you already found all the race bait you need?

Well, I don't think another autopsy will get anywhere, I think her family is just feeling guilt for not bailing her out this time:

I think the cop just had her records when he called in the tag and knew what he was dealing with. Sandra was also reported to be on some medication for epilepsy that causes suicidal thoughts in 1 out of every 500 cases. She was a trainwreck.

Her family had arranged to get her out of jail on Monday as she was arrested on Friday.

And WHAT was he dealing with? Is THAT why he pulled her over?

The autopsy potentially will show a lot. As you have jumped to a conclusion, so will I. She died in jail for some reason. And the suicide is an attempt to cover it up. Sue the pants off them and bankrupt the county.

Perhaps this is why some Christians have such a nasty attitude about some sins. They think they have to defeat that which CHRIST has already defeated.

Our fight is ... not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Eph. 6:12

we are to fight against THAT with the truth of God's word that ultimately points men to Him to be set free.

I was literally waiting for you to type that.

This time it's not even a false equivalency but a flat out attempt to obfuscate. The wickedness taking place around the Sandra Bland investigation is to be fought in the spirit just as the rest of the spiritual battles are.

And as there is a stronghold of power perpetrating the evil, show it why it's defeated and take away its ability and authority to continue its evil.

I say this with all sincerity. You need to read and reread your post.

I say with all sincerity that I know EXACTLY what I typed as I knew what YOU would type.

Like Mecca and Salt Lake City, there are strongholds and principalities pushing this wickedness. They must be brought down.

Oh, I do think it's just more trolling here. This wasn't the first time Sandra had tried to kill herself, I think the drug abuse, mental problems and epilepsy medication all combined to make her off herself.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...ressed-attempted-suicide-jail-records-n396886

She should have been taken straight to a psych facility but that's hard to these days at the time of arrest. She had thousands of dollars in outstanding fines and an arrest record for stealing and traffic violations as long as your arm.
