Sarah Palin wants to know what a VP does

That is a lethal soundbite!

hopefully there is more to it than what she said, it does speaks to inexperience and on the job training.

it has been a whirl of a news cycle now Sarah is being thrown off the page because of Gustav and Republican covention proposed being pushed back, my question is? then what happens if Hannah gets mean a couple of days later , bad move on the Republicans part, set your date and hold the convention.

also Obama's numbers came out and they were out of the park , like I said the news cycle is a whirl.

Do ya think she was being sarcastic? I know that the VP presides over the senate and votes in the case of a tie......but other than that, what exactly does he do?

Lobby for global warming?

Sarah Palin wants to know what a VP does

Should we let her in on it, or should we wait a few more months?

Thread: Sarah Palin wants to know what a VP does

LE says, So what? Big Deal. If that's the best the libs can come up with, we've got the election in the bag. I got if figured that with a nickname like "barracuda" she'll catch on pretty fast.

Imagine of Obama had a sound bit even hinting something like this. It would be a very big deal then...

From Obama's and Biden's history, I'm not convinced that either of them (or a majority of folks in the Senate or House) understand what our government is supposed to be doing.

Palin's comment was, obviously, a slap at the public image of the office of VP. Just what does that job entail on a day to day basis? Given how she's taken on the corrupt GOP machine in her own state, she's not likely interested in occupying an office that is mostly about ribbon cutting ceremonies or patting the president on the back.

She may be a disaster. But she just might be the fresh air that Washington needs.

And hey, its not like she trying to be on the faculty at Southwestern.

However, we must remember that any VP is one heartbeat away from being the President?

Of larger concern to me is that Obama doesn't know when life begins or a baby gets human rights. It's above his pay grade, according to him.

Something about a bucket of warm spit comes to mind.

But we should remember that her time as governor of Alaska means that she alone has more executive experience that the Democratic ticket put together.

Yep, that's right. A Governor (executive) has to make decisions, sometimes snap decisions which affect people's lives, sign bills and oversee what's going on in their state each and every day, keeping them sharp and on their toes, unlike Senators (legislators) who just sit around listening to boring mundane speeches, hobnobbing with lobbyists, and occasionally vote (if they're in town to vote and not on the campaign trail).

But no experience on the federal level at all.

I have no problem at all with a woman being president or vice president. But of all the Republican women that McCain could have picked he certainly could have found one who had more experience. If I were in the military and after all McCain has said about how important it is to pick a very qualified VP, I would consider this a slap in the face. I certainly am not comfortable with the idea of this lady being the Commander-In-Chief.

Surely from the list below he could have found a more qualified candidate.

Other Republican women:

Kay Bailey-Hutchison
Susan Margaret Collins
Elizabeth Dole
Lisa Murkowski
Olympia Jean Snowe
Michele Bachmann
Judy Borg Biggert
Marsha Blackburn
Mary Bono Mack
Virginia (Ginny) Brown-Waite
Shelley Moore Capito
Julia May Carson
Barbara L. Cubin
Jo Ann Davis
Thelma Drake
Jo Ann Emerson
Mary Fallin
Virginia Foxx
Kay Granger
Cathy McMorris Rodgers
Candice Miller
Marilyn N. Musgrave
Sue Myrick
Deborah Pryce
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen
Jean Schmidt
Heather A. Wilson

What areas do you see her bringing strenght to?
Energy, Environment, and Agriculture. Her strengths are all domestic (does that sound to much like a mother and wife)

Alaska does have more international concerns than many states because of its international ports and close proximity to Russia and the far east. But I still think she is stronger on domestic policy than foreign.

I do like the idea of the President and VP both being parents of active duty soldiers or marines.

Consider the recent presidents who had no executive experience at the federal level: All of them.

Bush I, Bush II, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Truman, Roosevelt ... and we could list many more. I don't know of a person you listed there who has executive experience at the federal level.
