Well, guess I was wrong. There are signs and wonder.

The gospel has never been more or less than what it is with or without miracles signs and wonders. The gospel of salvation is about the Person and work of Jesus Christ in behalf of sinners.

John the Baptist preached the gospel as spelled out in John 3:36 and yet John never spoke in tongues, never healed anyone, never performed one miracle.

The gospel did not change after Pentecost to some other kind of gospel than what you read in John 3:16 and John 3:36 which define the gospel preached by Jesus Christ himself and John the Baptist whom Jesus confessed was the greatest man born of woman WHO NEVER PERFORMED ONE SINGLE MIRACLE.

Mark 16 is directed to the "eleven" apostles in this context. It is confined to the believers in the apostolic period and Mark treats it as fulfilled under the apostles. Hebrews 2:3-4 treats as fulfilled under the apostles.

Go to my thread concerning the Biblical purpose of Miracles. No one yet has been able to respond to that thread and by respond I mean provide any biblical based reason my conclusions are wrong.

 

1. Not only are the exact same terms used here that are used to for the apostles but other texts demonstrate it is apostolic like such as Matthew 24:24 and Matthew 7:22 when they are done "in thy name."

2. Furthermore, both in Matthew 24:24 and in the context of 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 the issue is DECEPTION and "all pwoer and signs and....wonders" UNLIKE Christ's or the apostles would not be DECEPTIVE.

Bottom line! If they are not LIKE those of the Apostles or Christ then there is NO DECEPTION possible. The deception is because they are LIKE apostolic and Christ miracles.

 

The Bible commands us to "TRY" that is put to the TEST the "spirits" and "BELIEVE NOT every spirit" because many "FALSE" prophets have gone out in the world (1 Jn. 4:1).

The Bible provides many TESTS to try a prophet and if he fails any of these tests he is to be put to death and regarded as a false prophet (Deut. 13:5).

However, today we do not live in a Theocratic society where we can execute false prophets.

Every diverse aspect of the pentecostal/charismatic movement has prophetic leaders they still continue to read, follow their doctriness but which have failed these tests of a prophet. Every single self-professed charismatic/pentecostal prophet has failed these tests.

1. The test of failed prophecies - Deut. 13:1-5; 18:18-20; Jer. 23:32

2. The test of impure morality - Mt. 7:15-20

3. The test of false doctrine - Isa. 8:20;Mt. 7:15-20;1 Jn. 4:1-5; Rom. 16:17

EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY charismatic/pentecostal self-proclaimed prophet has been publicly caught making false prophecies and/or failing other clear and explicit Biblical tests for prophets.

The movement is no better than the "spirit" behind its leadership. Confirmed false prophets provide its doctrine and neither the doctrine or the false prophets are rejected by them. The whole movement is irreconcilably chaotic and fillled with confusion and God is not the author of such confusion.

 

mark 16 probably added on by someone who knew the historical evidence for the Apsotolic era, and out that in to "smooth out" the abrupt ending in the original copy...

Also, hebrews pretty clear that those had passed away after Apsotolic Age in church...

And that satan will and do counterfet the works of god, for he was THE Angel of light, and delights in having errors/false teachings co mingled among the church, ole wheats and tares!
