But for those wondering what it might taste like! He also said that about an hour after he ate it he was all warm, down in his stomach and it lasted a while, said that everyone says it does that.

How does one inhumanely treat a cow; shoot it in the butt with a rubberband? No, you're going to kill it, dead. How much more inhumane can you get. Do you hold it's hoof, stroke it's back and then bash it's brains in.

There's a basic story. It doesn't do a whole lotta good unless you've seen the opposite of a humane method (cows shocked into holders, scared, breaking legs falling, not being killed on the first try, etc, in other words prolonging the suffering, which a good slaughterer will make almost non-existant)...but that should be easy enough for you to look up online.

That was a good link. I applaud the efforts to make the process more humane. The one problem I saw with the statistics was they were shooting the cows. Sledge hammers to the skull are much more proficient. Honestly we don't want to think about the process, we just want our steak with lots of Texas Pete and a baked potato.

 

I used to belive this until we inherited a Chihuahua.

She is the best alarm system we ever had.

Her high pitched yapping will wake you from the dead. She knows who is a friend and who is a stranger long before they get to the door.

She is a ferocious/fearless little beast when it come to animal intruders on our property and has terrorized the uleashed dogs who stray into our yard.

A 60-70 pound mastif came into our yard one day and when I opened the door to investigate, she left the door at about 60MPH and chased him out of the yard (although I suspect one day he will probably have her for lunch).

She provides endless entertainment for our kids and grandkids.

The only problem I have with Chew-wah-wahs's is the constant barking. My neighbor has one and it runs in my yard and barks, non-stop. One of these days I'm going to mistake it for a cat.

 

Has man done anything worse to animals than animals have done to themselves? THEY EAT EACH OTHER ALIVE, quite often.

One of our most revered sea animals is the orca, or killer whale. I saw a "nature" show about coastal village whose fishermen had befriended a certain orca which had plenty to eat, and sometimes herded fish into the mens' nets. The camera crew recorded this orca happening upon a young seal. Orca used the seal for a tennis ball for awhile, slapping it violently into the air, & when it tried to escape into the shallows where orca couldn't go, orca flipped it over 30 feet throuth the air with its flukes. This process was repeated several times as the seal recovered consciousness from the preceeding blows. Finally, orca began to eat it, with as little & delicate bites as an animal orca's size could take. The seal was still alive & struggling, after about a third of it had been eaten! Finally, orca disposed of the seal with one mighty chomp, as it coulda done about a half-hour earlier.(The show didn't rin a half-hour of the orca's amusement; the narrator told us the display lasted about that long.

An hour later, orca was cavorting with two boatloads of tourists.

My uncle was a quartermaster in ww2 whose job became seeing to it that the French forces accompanying the Americans landing in France after D-Day had enough food, meds, shelter, & other non-combat supplies. One day in late July '44, they came upon a horse killed the previous day by a strafing. He said the weather was hot & sunny & the temp was in the high 80s F. & had been for the last 2 days. The French fell upon the dead horse with knoves & bayonets & were feasting within 5 manutes. The French liason officer who spoke English notices myuncle turning green, and explained to him, "Did you notice since you've been here that you've seen no gaunt Frenchmen who looked starved? We French will eat anything that is or has been alive that isn't an outright poison such as a nightshade mushroom. We raise horses for MEAT as well as for the other uses they have." My uncle also noticed a distinct lack of the small animals common to villages...no dogs, cats, or pigeons...or RATS.

The Frenchman told my uncle that about the ONLY animal they wouldn't eat was a vulture or buzzard.

I believe the MAIN probs most of us have with eating meat is the methods used for killing the animal. When I hunt, I do NOT used an under-powered weapon. Since I have access to a large hunting area where I don't hafta worry about where a missed shot goes, I use a squirrel RIFLE, a.22 Hornet. For deer, I use a .300 Weatherby, with which I whacked a medium-size grizzly, in self-defense, in its tracks. It will certainly stop a deer humanely.

And...GOD gave us the right to eat meat. However, if it's against your principles to eat it, then by all means, DON'T. I respect your beliefs, but you should respect mine. To me, animals are here for man's use and not vice versa.

 

I agree with Roby here. Please eat less meat. More for me.

But for all you "Veg-a-tarians" out there---don't think you're doing it because "That's what Jesus did!!" Because Jesus wasn't a Vegatarian!!
