SBC camp - detention or refugee?

I couldn't find in the article that it says it is an SBC camp, Also your title makes it sound slike the SBC is holding people against their will. When in fact they(and I didn't see that it was even SBC) have only donated their buildings for use.
People seem to want to keep tring to do whatever they want to do to try and 'help' instead of finding out what kind of help is needed and doing that.
People are complaining about organization, and then trun around and try to create disorganization.

I was there as well. What exactly would one expect to find? There were, to me, a relatively small number of troopers and guardsmen, given the number of volunteers (hundreds, with hundreds more turned away) and expected evacuees.

There were many more emergency medical personnel, it seemed to me: at least a dozen ambulances.

As it turned out, the whole thing was a waste of volunteer labor. Apparently FEMA has dropped plans to use the site at all.

I have pix too, but they only show volunteers and the the construction site of the new conference center where the Moorer-Rounds Tabernacle and B.B. McKinney Chapel once sat.

Google up Operation Urban Warrior. then watch Police State 2000. It shows how American citizens are systematically disarmed then dragged around kicking and screaming, "I have rights, I have rights".

Footage for this film was taken in Oakland California during Operation Urban Warrior. The United States Marine Corp among other U.S. service branches employed the help of "multinational forces" to help "bring order" to the city in 1999.

Photos from Operation Urban Warrior can be seen here. At the infowars website.

This is called a psyop. To desensitize the population and get us used to seeing armed multinational soldiers "keeping the peace" on American streets.

Today we have Mexican soldiers on U.S. soil in New Orleans Louisiana.

Legal firearms being confiscated in New Orleans. Go to the thread in Current Events.

The spin? We're taking your guns to keep you safe and it's okay to have foreign troops on U.S. soil they're our saviours.

Yall really need to make up your minds.

You disdain the disorder in the waterlogged streets of New Orleans yet cry foul when the law enforcement agencies take away those same people's weapons.

You cry that nobody helps and hey what about all that help WE gave to the victims of the tsunami, and when we get it, you complain because you think America is being taken over by foriegn forces who are sent here specifically to help with relief efforts.

Sounds like a lot of you are monday morning quarterbacks. Lord help you if a tragedy ever really does hit in your own backyard, you wont know which hand to bite.

Amen, Sibling Emeraldctyangel -- you are Right-on!

In case of a disaster FEMA owns the disaster
area until the disaster is done. If FEMA
buys, leases, or is donated material or
other property, it owns it all.

On 3 May 1999 a massive F-5 Tornado cut a
swath from Bridge
Creek via Moore to Midwest City in Central
Oklahoma the damaged properties were
OWNED BY FEMA until rehabilation took place.
some places were entry-by-inspection-only
for up to three months. This F-5 was
so horific that it sucked the sod right
out of the ground, especially through
Moore. Some places the was-green is-brown
swath was a quarter of a mile wide.
Fortunately we have developed at the Weather
Service in Norman, Oklahoma weather reporting
gear so folks can be warned ahead of time
where the danger is and get out or get
under-ground. Only some 68 died. I was in and
out of a local hospital from June 1999 through
5 Dec 1999 when my first wife died of cancer.
All during that time there were people still
in the hospital from the damages done by
that storm.

The BGCO = Baptist General Convention of
Oklahoma, is the owner of Falls Creek.
I know my church is a member of BGCO
and SBC = Southern Baptist Convention.
ThHe BGCO is alos a member of the SBC.

BGCO leases lots to the associations and
churches of Oklahoma. Each week of the
summer (2ed week in June to 2ed week in
August) the campgrounds are full of people.
I went there like 5 summers while in
Jr. Hi and High School. My church then owned
a cabin there that slept about 30 boys
and 30 girls in two-hich bunks.
The church just used the cabin for one
week and rented it out to other churces
for other weeks.

Falls Creek encampment usually runs 4,000
to 6,000 campers during a week in the
summer. Usage of the area is low
(like maybe 200 on a Friday night stay,
or something).

My current chruch rents a cabin.
The older churches in the state own
the best sights close to the
5,500 seat Tabernacle (no walls) which
BTW is being replaced with a new one.

BTW, i'm still trying to get Baptist Board
to NOT link to sites that advertize
themselves as 'conspiracy' sights.
We have enough confusion in the world without
finding a conspiracy in every dirk that
gets flashed in our face :(
The church i'm a member now just

oops, i wasn't done:

The church i'm a member of now just rents a cabin for one week of the summer
and takes 40-50 teens.

While some churches lease the grounds, they built the cabins on it.
The BGCO = Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, also has cabins for
workers in the gates, concessions, etc. They also built a central feeding
place and have a motel like facitlities for married folks.

THe State of Oklahoma Emergency folk announced that the agreement was:
1. BGCO would provide the facility
2. The State of Oklahoma would provide security
(i.e. National Guard and Highway Patrol)
3. Red cross would provide the stuff (food, clothes, supplies, water, etc.)

Thankful

Actually, from reading this woman's lengthy rant, it shows that FEMA, Red Cross, and Oklahoma had the grounds set up and organized for any people who might be sent to Falls Creek to live. I am proud of the efforts of our state to accommodate these people and provide for their comfort, health, and safety.

The camp is set in the mountains of Oklahoma and is very beautiful. I don't think FEMA or anyone expected for it to be a place for people to begin a new life. It is a place where they can stay until they can return to their homes or plan where they want to live.

Further the towns around this area are prepared to offer jobs to people who need them.

And further the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was there to protect the people coming and going.

Oklahoma City – Governor Brad Henry and leaders of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma announced today that a proposed evacuee camp at Falls Creek will stand down because large numbers of evacuees are no longer expected to come to the state.

The governor, state emergency management officials and Baptist leaders made the decision after the Federal Emergency Management Agency informed state authorities this week that future evacuee transfers will be modest in number.

At a State Capitol news conference Tuesday, Gov. Henry thanked Baptist volunteers for all their hard work at Falls Creek.

“I cannot say enough about the generosity of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, from the thousands of volunteers who worked so hard to prepare the camp to church leaders like Anthony Jordan who stepped forward to help in this time of great need,” said Gov. Henry. “When we asked Baptist leaders if they could provide assistance, they didn’t ask any questions. They just said yes and opened their hearts to their brothers and sisters in need. Their response to this unprecedented national emergency was an inspiration to all Oklahomans and all Americans.”

Anthony L. Jordan, executive director-treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, echoed the governor’s comments.

“We are honored to have had this opportunity to serve the hurricane survivors, our state and our Savior,” said Jordan. “I am very grateful for the more than 1,800 volunteers who registered to help with the Falls Creek relief efforts. Over 5,000 Buckets of Blessing care packages were prepared by hand and over 3,278 beds were made in less than 24 hours.

“We are in this for the long haul. In fact, our Baptist hurricane relief efforts continue even today as our mobile feeding units and chainsaw crew relocate near the heart of the New Orleans area. They are prepared to feed over 20,000 and clear fallen debris from homes on a daily basis. The Buckets of Blessing will soon be delivered to survivors at Camp Gruber here in Oklahoma and also in the New Orleans area to victims as they are served and greeted by our feeding team.”

SBC Camp? I didn't know that my phone company had their own camp. I wonder if they have a big fire to roast marshmellows over.
