Yall really need to make up your minds.
You disdain the disorder in the waterlogged streets of New Orleans yet cry foul when the law enforcement agencies take away those same people's weapons.
You cry that nobody helps and hey what about all that help WE gave to the victims of the tsunami, and when we get it, you complain because you think America is being taken over by foriegn forces who are sent here specifically to help with relief efforts.
Sounds like a lot of you are monday morning quarterbacks. Lord help you if a tragedy ever really does hit in your own backyard, you wont know which hand to bite.
FULL PRESS RELEASEOklahoma City – Governor Brad Henry and leaders of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma announced today that a proposed evacuee camp at Falls Creek will stand down because large numbers of evacuees are no longer expected to come to the state.
The governor, state emergency management officials and Baptist leaders made the decision after the Federal Emergency Management Agency informed state authorities this week that future evacuee transfers will be modest in number.
At a State Capitol news conference Tuesday, Gov. Henry thanked Baptist volunteers for all their hard work at Falls Creek.
“I cannot say enough about the generosity of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, from the thousands of volunteers who worked so hard to prepare the camp to church leaders like Anthony Jordan who stepped forward to help in this time of great need,” said Gov. Henry. “When we asked Baptist leaders if they could provide assistance, they didn’t ask any questions. They just said yes and opened their hearts to their brothers and sisters in need. Their response to this unprecedented national emergency was an inspiration to all Oklahomans and all Americans.”
Anthony L. Jordan, executive director-treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, echoed the governor’s comments.
“We are honored to have had this opportunity to serve the hurricane survivors, our state and our Savior,” said Jordan. “I am very grateful for the more than 1,800 volunteers who registered to help with the Falls Creek relief efforts. Over 5,000 Buckets of Blessing care packages were prepared by hand and over 3,278 beds were made in less than 24 hours.
“We are in this for the long haul. In fact, our Baptist hurricane relief efforts continue even today as our mobile feeding units and chainsaw crew relocate near the heart of the New Orleans area. They are prepared to feed over 20,000 and clear fallen debris from homes on a daily basis. The Buckets of Blessing will soon be delivered to survivors at Camp Gruber here in Oklahoma and also in the New Orleans area to victims as they are served and greeted by our feeding team.”
