I really find it difficult to believe that you're as ignorant as you're acting. I think perhaps you're just trying to make liberals look bad by acting in such a manner, since this is a pattern that you're presenting.

Just a hint: The titles of 4 of the links on the first page are talking about this very subject.

Pardon me? I may be ignorant, but I have been asking you, to no avail so far, to enlighten me.

Ok, then it should not be too much trouble for you to post the links to the ones you believe apply. I checked out the first three and they did not bear out your story, so I no longer believe you. If you say that some of the others on the page do, then post the links to those.

As I've repeatedly mentioned, since you are saying that there is much crying over the great increase in earthquakes, you have the obligation to provide evidence - it is not up to me to do your searching for you.

Hint: titles mean less than the body.

    Global Warming

Just because Al Gore is presenting this material doesn't make it correct. Also, just because many conservatives don't like Gore doesn't make him wrong either.

What would be wrong with people doing sensible things to cut down on greenhouse gases just in case they do have an affect on our planet. After all, this would also help to reduce our dependence on foreign oil which would benefit all of us.

Have you even gone to see this movie?
    I have.

Perhaps you can explain why all of the glaciers mentioned in the movie are retreating at a very rapid pace.......

Al Gore has no credibility. He is out there on the lunatic fringe. See his movie? Of course not.

Why are the glaciers going through change? Im not involved in the science of these issues. The burden of proof lies with the doomsayers, not with everyone or anyone else. So far there has only been speculation, and conjecture by the domsayers.

I do know that the earth goes through cycles. And it is a fact that some parts of this young earth gets warmer in one location while it gets cooler in another at the same time. Kind of argues against "Global Warming".

What about the sun? doesnt it change as the earth does? Could this effect the earths cycles?

Like evolution, this global warming theory is weak at best.

Everything with you is black and white, isn't it. After all, since Al Gore is saying something, it must be wrong. Such naivety is dangerous, especially in one called to preach God's Holy Word.

Al Gore has demonstrated that he is not credible on this particular issue. He is either on the hysterical fringe himself or is trying to make political hay with a fear issue.

If the general public knew how extreme Gore's views on the environment really are then they wouldn't trust him. "Earth in the Balance" suggested among other measures to tax gasoline to a higher price than what people are now in a panic over. Some of his ideals would effectively shut down whole industrial segments or else run the costs of their products through the roof.

As with any liberal, when Al Gore starts talking ideals get a tight hold on your wallet. His proposals will almost always come back to higher costs through regulation or taxation.

Maybe not quite black and white... however Gore has demonstrated himself to be wrong so many times that it is a good starting assumption.
Naivety? Probably not. Algore's philosophy and ideals are pretty apparent to the educated observer. Anyone who gives much ponderance at all to the costs, effects, and/or other consequences of his ideas will usually discern that he is a liberal that follows the logic: "If it moves, tax it. If it still moves, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it."

Yes, life is black and white for the most part. You can allow for grey areas but that is called "compromise". Anyway, Gore isnt trusted by very many people right or left. Even without that such a movie is rediculous.

Maybe you have some answers to my earlier questions.

Is it true that the "only" answer for the glacier change in the artic global warming? Or could it also be natural cycles of the earth? Do the changes in the sun and its cycles effect our cycles heare on earth? Why has it gotten warmer on some regions and cooler in other regions on earth at the same time? Why have we had such cold winters here in the U.S. lately? If global warming were a reality wouldnt they be more mild?

    Makes you wonder huh?

    I did answer:

In other words, I don't know, but why not do what we can to alleviate the problem, just in case.

You are "not involved in the science of these issues," yet you state that global warming is a "joke."

That is quite a strong statement for someone who, by his own admission, is "not involved in the science of these issues." The FACT is that the glaciers in the world are shrinking at an alarming rate, and most of this has happened in the last 70 years or so. Where in our history has this happened so rapidly?

That last question is rhetorical of course, since you are "not involved in the science of these issues."

It has happened repeatedly over many thousands of years.

If it is a cycle then the speed in which it is happening is irrelevent. Let me ask you are you involved in the science of these issues? What is your degree in? Where did you study at? Just what field of study are you in? What qualifies you to comment on this with more credibility than me?

I can reasonably hold the opinion that global warming is a joke. The changes in the earth can be a result from a number of variables yet the lunatic fringe wants people to make changes the in our lives that put economies in jepardy. That take away peoples freedom to choose the things that go on in their lives. All for a theory that has not and quite frankly cannot be proven. Global Warming is all circumstantial, specualtion, and conjecture. Therefore it is a joke. And it doesnt take a scientist to see that.

Au contraire, Al Gore has shown himself to be well versed in environmental concerns. There is no political hay here, not any more.

You read "Earth in the Balance"?

Yeah, we should bring back the good old days of dumping raw sewage in the rivers - gross but cheap!

RevMitchell, I would posit, based upon your writings, that when you deny global warming, you are not denying global warming itself, but global warming caused by man.

    Is that correct?

If I may interject, back in the late 1990's, I was assigned to a satellite engineering section. No bragging here; it was a stupid move on the military's part, as I had no engineering background. Lord only knows how I made it through that assignment without causing a $1.5 billion shooting star....

One of the projects they assigned me was a study of the Leonids meteor shower, which some of y'all might remember peaks every 33 years or so. While studying the possible effects on our particular satellite system, the solar cycle issue came up, because we were also looking at the effects coupled with solar activity.

I may have missed this in the first few pages of this discussion, but I'll take this opportunity to remind everyone that the sun is on a 22-year cycle, at the peak of which is a lot of activity, and therefore increased energy output (which, by the way, we're just starting to come down from the peak of).

And I'd also like to take this opportunity that at least one of the main proponents for global warming was one of the main proponents for crying "we're entering a new ice age!" back in the 1970's.

You want to discuss global warming? Discuss it with actual climatologists, not specialists in botany or biology. Botanists and biologists will tell you yes, global warming could be a factor in why some plants and some animals are undergoing changes. Climatologists will look at all factors and give you a reasonable answer as to what's really going on, such as a species of animal has adapted to take advantage of a more plentiful type of plant--which may have nothing at all to do with global warming.

And the climatologists do not necessary agree with Mr. Gore.

Check Mr. Gore's book and film, and find out how many of the scientists referenced are climatologists as opposed to those that are specialists in specific fields.

I believe in global warming, global cooling, and global stagnation. It is all in cycles. I am not conerned for a particular name like global warming. But there are those who use that phrase to beat us over the head and take away our choices in life and our liberties.

Global warming as it is used by the envirowackos is pure fiction. Climate change is real. In fact the climate changes daily. we have a saying here in Florida "If you dont like the weather in Florida wait a minute". Climate changes from day to day, week to week, month to month, and year to year.

We have in my life times had extreme heat waves, incredably cold winters,(in fact it snowed in Orlando back in 76) to excessive rain to extreme drout. It is always on the move within the natural cycle of nature.

Denying climate changes would be rediculous.

Do you? Or are you simply willing to take the word of someone who says they're a scientist, without knowing what their specialty is?

The premise of this entire thread is a major logical fallacy...try to discredit the message by demeaning the messenger. Global warming has nothing to do with Al Gore or his movie. The questions are, is it a fact, and is it caused by human activity.
