SEEKING THE LOST KNOWLEDGE.

Amos 8.11-13
11."Behold, days are coming," declares the Lord GOD, "When I will send a famine on the land, not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, but rather for hearing the Words of the Lord.

12.And people will stagger from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they will go to and from to seek the Word of the Lord, but they will not find it.

13.In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men will faint from thirst (the thirst for the Word of GOD)."


How possibly it can happen? Word of GOD is lost? No more printing of the Bibles? Teaching the Word of GOD no longer conducted?

"Days are coming." Do we live in the beginning of such days? I think we do. Slowly but surely Christianity is dying. Attendance of churches declining. And the church itself corrupt and it turns away those who seriously seek the Word of GOD.

Rituals, dogmas, traditions, and doctrines of the church completely overshadowed the true and pure knowledge written in the Bible. No wonder that many people turning to other religions because they clearly see the fake sincerity of the Christian church and it false teachings.

Even political authorities who in the past were tolerant to Christianity to some extend would not mind now to replace it with Islam, and actually actively promote Islam as a part of curriculum "of foreign cultural studies" in the universities and colleges of US, generously sponsored and financed by Saudis.

It looks like that will be no more Bibles to read, no teaches to teach, and no knowledge available to learn, it will be forbidden and out law like today prayers in the schools.

But many idiotic and meaningless customs and traditions of the church and very popular Easter Eggs painting and Christmas, all of which have absolutely nothing in common with true Christianity and the Word of GOD, flourishing and "religiously" celebrated and observed year after year.

It seems like that for our children and for future generations all these nonsense of the church rituals and their holidays, including Ester and Christmas, will be the only knowledge about Christian faith.

Amos definitely had vision and knowledge of the future events, and this his prediction certainly will come true like all other prophecies of the Bible.

That might be true already, the bible passage you cited.

But what you cited and what you said it means is two different things.

What you cited said PEOPLE with thirst for the word of the Lord and THEY will not find it. Its a good thing to THRIST FOR IT. Miraculous to find it. But just as great.....THE WORD FINDS YOU.

I would also argue without tradition which includes use of scripture, you wouldn't have a bible. Tradition tells you what the bible even is.

Your bible might not have the book of Mormon or writings of Ellen g White Thanks to a TRADITION that decided those writings not to be canon of scripture.

Just cause someone can't find or doesn't want to find Toast doesn't mean TOAST has disappeared from the face of the earth.

Also the WORD OF GOD is not restricted to mean JUST SCRIPTURES.

Word of GOD #1 is JESUS CHRIST.

John 1

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Don't take anything I say as me trying to beat you over the head or being harsh. I'm just helping you out a bit. Worst case scenario just laugh at me, I'm not trying to be mean.

Look exactly at the writings you cited.

Look even exactly what you are saying " they will go to and from to seek the Word of the Lord, but they will not find it" literally. This means that I think that at this time will be no Bible to find"

Then you are NOT taking it LITERALLY. If they wanted to LITERALLY say NO BIBLE TO FIND.........THEY would have wrote NO BIBLE TO FIND.......


In YOUR MIND you might believe the ONLY ONLY ONLY way someone can't find the word of God is all the bibles are GONE.

The bible did not put this idea together, you put it together in your head.

If you lose your keys that doesn't mean they have disappeared from existence, it just means you can't find them.


You are going to have to look up the word "LITERALLY" It means taking it WORD FOR WORD.

Have you considered that Amos 8:11-13 refers to the 400 years of silence between Malachi and the birth of Jesus? There was no new inspiration of God's Word through the prophets during these centuries. It had once been customary to seek the counsel of God's prophets regularly, but all prophecy dried up until out of the silence there came a voice crying in the wilderness (John the Baptist): At last, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (Jesus) - the living water, the bread of life, the famine was over! Several commentaries suggest this so it wise to consider it even if you reject it.

Forgive me if this is patronising, but I would recommend using online commentaries. Biblehub includes a few different ones for comparison. We should not depend on them but it can be helpful to know what others before us have said about the passages we find difficult.

Yes this particular passage is difficult to understand and to point precisely what it means, but if we look back in history and even on today's events, I still holding to this assumption that in some time in the future the Word of GOD, and I mean the Bible, will be banned and will be not available for masses.

In the Soviet Union any type of religion was prohibited and considered as dangerous ideology. Communist not completely banned religion in Russia and many churches were open and worship of GOD was continued.

People who have been religious and those who attended churches were ridiculed by USSR authorities and by some atheists, and even could lose their jobs, or in the better case will be given other position for less pay.

In Nazi Germany certain book were burned, the books which authorities considered not associated with fascist ideology, while they did not prohibited religion, but on the other hand they show that they have power to do that too.

At the same time in US the American Nazi party does the same thing as in Germany. In the 30's they organized same burned of books considered too liberal for their ideology.

A while ago I watched some travel channel on the U-Tub and one traveler made a comment and gave advise that those who travel to Saudi Arabia should not take a Bible on that trip, because if it will be found, it will be confiscated. He said strait forward that Saudis prohibit Bible in their country, may be not officially.

So my point is that by looking at the prophecies about future there is no secret for anyone that the future will be completely tyrannical and totalitarian, and entire world will be under one dictatorial government (globalization as it called today).

And of course how hard for this tyrannical global government will be to ban the Bible and close all churches, and the people of the Earth will be starving spiritually, and will look and search for the Word of GOD.

If it was such "silence," most likely it was silence of GOD and His prophets, but the Torah (the Word of GOD) always was available in every synagogue and the people have full access to it.
